  1. Hey Hopeful,

I had these really bad episode in the beginning of my ordeal where I would just all the sudden feel dizzy, lightheaded and my heart would just start racing and then I would feel the need to go to the bathroom. Once it was over I would settle down. I think it's the nervous system just trying to figure things out or something. In the beginning it scared the crap out of me (no pun intended) but I got used to it. I almost never have that now and I'm 18 months into mine.

  2. I have these floatie things and cant handle being in a room/restraurant that has like one blind open but the rest are closed and it makes that one spot so bright. I will have a headache within 15 minutes! I hate the floatie things. Especially looking at white like when I'm typing this out! :-) I have learned to ignore them but it bothers me when it's really bright outside. Just another strange thing with dysauto!

  3. I completely understand this! In the beginning of my ordeal I was sure I had diabetes cause I had such horrible blood sugar swings. I would check it and it would be fine. After reading that adrenal book I think I figured out mine was related to the adrenal glands. I just keep snacks and water/powerade with me as much as possible! :-)

  4. Trainboysmomrocks,

Can you tell us more about what you are taking? Sorry, I haven't looked at your member profile - how old are you, etc?

Hi mvdula! I am 39 creeping up on 40 here in a few months. I am currently taking bio-identical progesterone, 2 supplements called Cytozyme AD and my new one is called ADB5-Plus. They are made my a company called Biotics Research. They come directly from my MD. She is one of the few MD's who believe in naturpathic care. I will start bio-identical estrogens/testosterone in a few days. Hope that helps! Thanks for inquiring!

  5. Dear Fellow Dyautonomians,

I posted awhile back about going to see a new doctor who specialized in hormone replacement for women. I'm just writing to say that since starting adrenal therapy and progesterone therapy almost 2 months ago things are beginning to improve. Friends keep telling me how much better I look. I actually feel energetic! At my appointment last week I was given a new adrenal support to add to the one I am already taking and I will begin estrogen/testosterone bio-identicals with in the next week. She says this is going to take awhile to get balanced back but I will be surprised in the end at how much energy I have. Bring it on baby!! LOL! :P Anyway, thank all of you for your support and always being there when we all need someone who understands. All you women out there if you havent already get your hormones checked....you never know how much it could be affecting you! Hugs to all!

  6. Brye,

I would definitely get the Wii! It can be hours of fun if you're kids are into it! I invested in the Blockbuster's offer of a pass type deal for like $20 a month. I can have one game or one movie checked out for as long or little as I want. So if we rent a game and they dont like it we just take it back and get another. I have 2 boys so they love the video games! They are much older but I can appreciate you're situation with the younger ones at home. Hope you find some great ideas!

How did you get tested for the mitochrondrial? I was recently told about a woman who made a huge improvement of hers by using some product called Ageless Xtra by some company called Uni-Vera. Have you ever heard of this? Just curious as to if it would help the dysauto symptoms! Thanks!

  8. I know the hotter weather gets to me too. Even a hot shower will set me off most days! Funny thing is the cold is almost as bad. I am so cold intolerant it's driving me crazy! We dont have snow or anything but when it's cold and rainy and the wind is blowing I just want to crawl into bed with 4 blankets! Ugh!

  9. kC , what are the adrenal support tablet you are taking ?

thanks for all the replys , seems hormones can bring on these symptoms.

They are called Cytozyme-AD. I have found them online so I know you can get them without a prescription. I take 3 daily-1 at each meal. I have also been taking alot of Vitamin C (1,000mg with each meal) cause that book suggested it. Hope that helps! :-)

  10. A cyber buddy who is a patient of Dr.Grubbs saw him recently and he asked her whether she was approaching menopause. Not so in her case.

Anyhow he told her that menopause is actually a form of autonomic dysfunction so be prepared for that to be a rough time.

It makes sense when you think of all the symptoms of menopause.

    Noreen

Noreen- Thanks for sharing that! That makes me feel better knowing that Dr. Grubb would agree that this can really do a number on the autonomic nervous system! Have a great night! :-)

  11. Mirry,

I dont know what type of tests you had done but if you are showing a imbalance than I would look into bio-identical hormones to get them corrected. If you look at some the things I have posted I have been talking about hormones and the adrenal glands. The doctor I am currently seeing is a medical doctor who specializes in womens hormones and she also uses naturpathic medicine practices. She had me do the saliva adrenal cortisol test and my numbers were very very low. She explained that having no cortisol to cope with the stresses of everyday living and no progesterone on top of that was a recipe for disaster! Like I said before it will be interesting to see what happens when I become somewhat "balanced" again. I have noticed since taking the adrenal support tablets that a few things are improving. I didnt get like this over night and I know it's going to be months before I am close to being balanced. Go with your gut and seek out the appropriate help to make it happen. Trust me when I say I have gone through the ringer trying to get someone to listen to me...the new doc understood exactly what I was saying and made me feel like there was a possible explanation! Praise the Lord! :-)

  12. Mirry,

I have read that same thing also. It really did make me feel better in the beginning. My symptoms have only improved with time but I still dont feel like my "old" self. Going back to something another member told me is that you have to figure out what is the underlying cause of your dysautonomia and then treat that. In my case I do believe that a severe hormone imbalance is the root of mine. I wont know for sure until I get that all back in balance but so far it's going good! Keep a positive attitude as that is about the only thing you can do to make it through some of these terrible days we all have! :-)

  13. I tried to explain to my eye doc all the problems I was having and he had no clue what dyauto was. My vision changes alot too. I feel like I still cant see like I used to. My night vision is terrible!! Another aspect to living with this ridiculous disorder! :-)

  14. Joanne,

Welcome to what perhaps will be your saving grace! I am so sorry to hear what your poor little girl has been through at only 7 years of age! Dyautonomia is something that can be so taxing to deal with that I cant even imagine a child having to deal with it! Your struggle with the doctors is nothing new around here. We have almost all been through the same thing but when it's your baby suffering it seems unbearable! There is a saying that I have heard that goes something like this...a mother is only doing as well as the child that is suffering the most. It is so true! I would say do whatever you have to do to get her to a doc that understands this disorder. Look for naturpathic doctors who might understand it. I recently found a doc who is a regular MD but uses naturpathic care and it has been a good experience so far. She is focusing on my adrenal glands right now and no one ever did that before. Stick to your mother instinct because your daughter needs you to fight for her. I will pray for her and for you to get the right help! Hugs to you and her!

  15. Hey there! I just wanted to update those following this thread. I have been on the adrenal support for about 2 weeks now and the progesterone for 1 week. I had taken the progesterone before and such insane drowsiness that I decided to stop taking it. I am amazed that with the addition of the adrenal support I didn't have any of the drowsiness this time around with the progesterone. I will see how it goes for a month straight as I know all too well how hormone fluctuation can change how you feel! I am trying to follow all the suggestions in the Adrenal Fatigue book and so far it's going good. I still wake up with a racing heart and that is one of my most bothersome symptoms. Time will be the teller of this tale and I just have to remain patient. Thanks for your support!

  16. My Mom saw this last summer and called me all excited saying I think I just saw what's wrong with you! It was then that I started looking more into all about dysautonomia and was shocked at how it all fit. It just goes to show that many of us get so frustrated going to doctor after doctor and getting told it's nothing to worry about or even worse it's in your head! Thanks for sharing this! :-)

  17. So glad you are getting some good results! I too have been using adrenal support tabs and I really think it's helping! I saw a new doc who is a medical doctor who uses naturpathic medicine whenever possible. It's great! Anyway, she said my adrenals were shot along with my other female hormones. I have been reading a book on the adrenals and am shocked at how dead on it is! Look up some of my posts and read about it! Have a great day! :-)

  18. Sue- Did you have your aldosterone levels checked too? I may have that tested as well. It plays a huge role in electrolytes so I know that's gotta be not good if that is messed up. My old doc said do you crave salt? I was like I have been a saltaholic since I can remember does that mean I crave it? My Mom was concerned a couple of times when I was growing up cause I would drink pickle juice/green olive juice and eat bouillon cubes! Now that is a serious salt craving!
