bella27 Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Has anyone tried the BCP Yaz to help with POTS symptoms?? Any luck? I heard the BCP Yazmin (which is different from Yaz) actually hurts POTS because its a diuretic? I was wondering if it might be the same deal with Yaz... Quote
lalalisa Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Hello,I'm not sure about Yaz but here is a link to a conversation on Yasmin. I take Yasmin and it doesn't increase my POTS symptoms.http://dinet.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtop...6&hl=yasmin (I searched under Yasmin for this)Take care,Lisa Quote
flop Posted October 28, 2007 Report Posted October 28, 2007 Yasmin and Yaz both contain drospirenone (but they have different doses of the other hormones). Drospirenone is supposed to help with the PMT symptoms including water retention and bloating - it had a diuretic effect and is supposed to have the same effect as taking 25-50mg of the diuretic Spironolactone every day.Obviously I was concerned about taking a diuretic type med - it seems to be daft to take fludrocortisone / florinef to make me retain fluid then take drospirenone to make me loose fluid. However after posting my thread about Yasmin and seeing that some board members take Yasmin without any bad effects, I talked to my doctor and we decided that I should try the Yasmin and see how it effects me.Flop Quote
