Jlp54
Hi everyone, I was prescribed a low dose of Prozac for my anxiety/panic. When I am able to feel my increased heart rate, it leads to a panic attack which then causes tachycardia that will not go away. It is extremely uncomfortable to constantly feel my heart racing and have a heavy chest due to stress and worry. Has anyone been on Prozac/fluoxetine for their panic/anxiety? Thanks
Don
I have an anxiety disorder amongst other things. I have tried some SSRI's and SNRI's. I currently take Wellbutrin as I have no side effects from it. I believe it's in a class of its own. My doctor has prescribed me Prozac, Paxil, Lexapro, Celexa, and some others. I don't remember how they all worked. But the thing is, if you don't get satisfactory results from one, there are plenty others.
MomtoGiuliana
I was prescribed Prozac for POTS 14 yrs ago. It did seem to help however I had increased symptoms and worsened anxiety for about a month. After that initial adjustment period it seemed to work well for me. My symptoms definitely settled down and I started to feel better within months.

(if you don't mind my asking?) I improved to such a great extent I decided to come off the Prozac to see how I would do. Overall I did not have worsening symptoms off the Prozac. It's really hard to know if the Prozac actually helped or if I was just going to improve anyway.

From what I remember, it is not necessary to taper off Prozac like it is for other SSRIs. I do remember tapering off over a period of a week or two.
