looneymom
My son takes 8000mg of vitamin a day. He was taking 5000mg a day but his last testing indicated a moderate defiency. My son drinks fluids through out the day and his body seems to be flushing the vitamin C out. This is not the first test that has indicated this problem. Our cardiologist ran a test over a year ago and it indicated the same problem. A POTS patient needs their fluids and keeping vitamins and mineral in balance can be tough.Vitamin C has many benefits and many great articles have been written about it. Thanks for sharing these Tachy.Rachel
tachyfor50years
You are very welcome Corina and Looneymom; Yes indeed, it is really tough to keep vitamins and minerals in balance with POTS.
ramakentesh
This study has often caused confusion. Intravenous vitamin c improved the regional local blood flow by vasodilatong but in all patients tested it actually made standing tolerance far worse. Please email Dr Stewart to confirm.this is the danger of applying selective medical research to patient interpretation.
ramakentesh
There was even a company trying to capitalize on the study to sell their product and two of the researchers had to contact them. By reducing sympathetic vasoconstriction vitamin c in large doses did not improve symptoms, merely local vessel blood flow.
corina
Rama, I fully agree with you. Things need to be seen in context. I like all the articles but you need to take everything into consideration and talk things through with your doctor. Hopefully s/he knows what would suit you personally! IceLizard
I have been having cravings for vitamin c tablets. I just want to eat them like candy, even the ones that are not flavored. Perhaps I need to get my levels checked....Thanks for the article!
