Low Resting Hr?

Hi everyone. Does anyone know what does low heart rate mean. Since I stoped xanax 8 weeks ago, i noticed my resting heart rate goes down to 50s, like around 55-58 when I am laying or sitting. Is this normal. Before it used to be around 70s sitting. It does go up when standing. Usually in the morning standing is around 100 and up, later in the day its between 85-95. I also noticed that when its really low, i have lightheadness spells. I did just wear 10 day event holter monitor and did record these events on it, but my cardiologist said all looks normal.

Does anyone experience this? And does anyone know why?

I know that HR of 50s is not scary and actually very good for someone who is very fit. But i am definetly not a sort person. I do have low weight 110lbp, ldl cholesterol under 100, hdl is also good, lipids are normal. But still I think its too low for me.

I checked my husband and his is also the same. It gets even to high 40s when he is resting and standing is 80s. But he is more fit then me. Although he is not doing it anymore he used to run a lot and used to go to gym. Unlike me, I was never a sport person, but was always very skiny and healthy before this illness.

If anyone can relate to this or knows anything about it please write.

Thank you very much.

My resting hr is in the fifties laying down or sitting for a while sometimes down to 51. My cardiologist said it's completely normal but I do notice mor dizziness if it's lower. If all of your cardiac tests are ok then I wouldn't be too concerned just probably part of the dysautonomia since autonomic system controls heart rare it can make it lower too just like it making it too high

Also from my understanding sometimes anti anxiety meds can make tachycardia worse so maybe it was making your resting heart rate higher and now that your off it's lower. Trust me I am no athlete so that is not why my heart rate is in the fifties. Also if you look it up anxiety can make your heart date lower too I'm not sure how or why as I read it a while ago but I've read about it. They usually don't get concerned unless your heart rate goes below 50 and consistently stays there. Just keep following up with your cardiologist. My mom gas always had a hr in the 50s and hasn't physically fit so I don't worry too much about it :)

Yes I know it's crazy I'm new to all of this I have a history or cancer but pots has been the last 5 months and I'm finally starting to accept all the crazy symptoms. Before I knew what was going on I had gone to the emergency room like 8 times in a 3 month period. Lately I have had frequent urination added to the least and feeling the urge to go a lot it feels like I have a uti but I don't

Was your pots trigered by pregnancy? I had miscariage almost 2 years ago and wonder if that trigered pots. But i havent felt symptoms until 6 months later after miscariage. Althought I had two episods of feeling like will pass out after miscariage within those 6 month.

I so want to have a baby, but how can I even try in this condition. I wonder if some women were able to get pregnant while having onset of pots. Maybe i should ask this question.

Hi Gemma,

Tyler's heart rate normally runs between 50 to 75 when reclining and sitting down. Our cardiologist is fine with it being in this range.

where do you know it from? :o should anti anxiety drugs makes it calmer. what about people who needs to take it for tachyvardia. that makes me worried if it elevated HR.

Hi Gemma,

I often had very low HR and didn't feel great when it happened. Often it fell to low 40's. It all seems part of the difficulty i was having with chest pain and irregular beat. This seems to have got better with new meds.

It worried me at the time but just used to get up and do something to get it going again.

Anti anxiety meds have been known to help some pots patients and hinder others just have to try it and see what works for you. My cancer was carcinoid cancer it is very rare and actually causes many of the same symptoms as pots so when I developed all these crazy symptoms after giving birth to my 2nd child 5 months ago they thought it was back so they did many tests and bloodwork. I saw a carcinoid specialist in Tampa and he said based on all my tests he didn't think it was back but mentioned that it sounds like I have pots. He will be doing his own workup to confirm cancer is not back. Gemma my pot came due to pregnancy either that or it came on slowly from my previous health issues and the pregnacy made it full fledged. In my opinion I would not get pregnant many other women have gotten worse after pregnancy and have pregnancy cause it like me.
