yogini
I am in the process of weaning off my SSRI. I noticed I am falling asleep and staying asleep much better. I've had insomnia since getting POTS. I didn't start taking Paxil until 4 years into my illness. My POTS has gotten a lot better over time, but the insomnia has gotten worse. I was wondering whether anyone had worse sleep on Paxil/SSRI?(In case anyone is thinking of trying an SSRI, overall the SSRI helped a ton. Even with the insomnia as a side effect, it is totally worth trying) Edited October 12, 2013 by yogini
corina
I'm on Paxil too and have sleep difficulties. But I actually don't think it's due to the SSRI, I think it's more of a dysautonomia things as it comes and goes. I can go being awake about 3 to 5 hours a night for weeks, even months and then go back to sleeping almost normal (normal for me is waking up 2 to 3 times a night to use the bathroom and fall asleep quite easily afterwards) for several weeks. badhbt
I never had sleep issues until my POTS started last year. I am also in the process of weaning off a Snri and I hope this helps with the insomnia. I hope your weaning process goes smooth and there are restful nights ahead! yogini
Thanks. This is my third time trying to go off Paxil and this has been the easiest time I've had by far...fingers crossed. I am still sleeping well!
seattle chris
I have actually had better sleep with the SSRIs. In fact, I am frequently drowsy in the afternoon. I have felt much better overall with Paxil so I will gladly take the side effects over the misery I went through before I started the med.
