cupcakemomma5
I have just been going through alot lately, me with my health and still waiting for the specialist. Yet being sent for every other test in thebook (but not the tests that matter. Noooo, test that we already have answers from!)I stopped smoking 2 years ago(prior to my dx) and just this week after frustration and feeling a lot down, I decided ah, what the heck. Well here's my question. I don't plan on continuing (I know all the risk)However right now it feels like my body is on hyperdrive. My hr is crazy high, I am sweating like I ran a marathon. Now I should state, I am on propranolol and florinef and cymbalta. All for increasing my bp and lowering my hr. do others who smoke notice that it does this to your body...I actually laughed...I said "Great, so since this darn dx last Aug. I can no longer run around like I used to, I can't drink if I go out with my husband, and now I can't even have a smoke!.....Now what! shan1212
Hugs! I don't smoke so I don't know what it's doing specifically to your body, but I would avoid it possible because you don't need any extra stimili to deal with right now.I know how you feel. I had my yearly checkup with the midwife this week, and I got perfect marks for working out 5x a week and having very small amounts of alcohol very occasionally. It sounds like I am some health nut but really it's because I can't function otherwise. I would work out a lot less and drink a lot more if I could. Sigh . . .Hang in there, and maybe throw those ciggies away before you get hooked again? Can you buy yourself something? That's what I do when I'm feeling sorry for myself. I hobbled out and bought a ridiculously expensive stroller that we don't need when I broke my foot a few months ago and knew I was going to get deconditioned. Oops. Katybug
I used to smoke and stopped a few years ago cold turkey. I have had maybe 5 cigs since then. I do have an increase in heart rate and feel extra dizzy if I smoke while sitting and then try to stand up. But I'm not shocked by this because nicotine is a stimulant so it isn't surprising that smoking would increase POTS type reactions/symptoms. Dizzysillyak
Sorry to hear you're going thru a rough patch. Me too. My pity part consisted of eating waay too much gf junk food and I'm paying for that now too. Lol. I took up smoking, one a day, several months ago to see if nicotine would help my oi. It didn't but it made my thinking clearer. I could multitask again. I noticed an sharp increase in sweating and assume it was my body detoxing all those chemicals. This stopped as soon as I stopped smoking. Nicotine lozengers didn't work as well and caused digestive issues at least 1/2 the time. I didn't notice a hr increase but I had more energy. My bp and hr run on the low side. Hope you feel better soon. D
spinner
Smoking is a brutal taskmaster, they say its more addictive than heroin. Sounds like your stress level is through the roof, and its helping you deal with the insanityof this disorder. Is there a healthy alternative? Im not into yoga, but i do swim, and the breathing isbeyond therepeutive meditation or whatever. Its a type of calm where you dont need anything else.
