Anyone Only Potsy In The Morning?

I tend to be worse in the AM, I think this is true of many w POTS. Definitely there are days where I can feel badly in the AM and pretty good in the evening.

My specialist, when I was first diagnosed, acknowledged that symptoms would likely be most severe in the AM. He recommended drinking a couple glasses of fluid along w salt as soon as I wake. I think one reason we are worse in the AM is that we are dehydrated after 8 +/- hours of lying down and not drinking anything.

I see the highest heartrates getting out of bed in the morning - numbers I rarely see later in the day. Pretty POTSY through the morning, but HR does seem to get lower in the afternoon and is lowest at night. I crash hard in the afternoon with exhaustion though - so that morning adrenaline (as uncomfortable as it is) allows me to get some things done. Do you have low blood pressure during the night and waking up? I think this is part of my issue - my body trying to get BP up so I can function. Also, I think laying down all night does something with the pooling - it feels like it's all my chest and stomach when I'm laying down and then drops to my lower abdominal area and to my feet when I get up - so I think the tachycardia is compensatory. This is all theory and observation - I can't prove any of it! Momtoguilana's explanation about dehydration is logical - I was given the same info and advice by one POTS Dr. and it especially makes sense because I dump fluids like crazy at night (frequent nighttime urination). Anyone else? Yes, the whole thing is just weird!

Interesting!

I know we have diurnal variation. However, I'm dont have the 30 Bpm increase unless it's after spin class or getting out of bed in the am. It's so weird. I don't diurese at night, so it must be something like vagal withdrawal in the am? Does anyone know what normal is? Like what does a normal persons heart do right out of bed? I've never seen a comparison study
