Ach And Sleep

Recommended Posts

I am also interested in this area. been thinking about this for a while. Problem is that mestonin generally isnt supposed to be able to cross the blood brain barrier, yet since being on it my sleep has been improved considerably - at least until it wears off (although vivid dreams have been interesting).

A POTS (post viral) person on another forum began taking Huperzine A (a CNS acetylcholinesterase inhibitor) and said that it very little for her brain fog but helped heaps with her sleep. it has a longer half life than mestonin and crosses the blood brain barrier. it is however an unregulated and fairly untested ACh or choline esterase inhibitor that does cross the blood brain barrier. Might also help with vagal withdrawal.

Nitric oxide and NE/SE are also involved in thermoregulation. The sympathetic system is most active in the early morning in POTS whereas the parasympathetic system is most dominant in the evening (when many feel better although there may be other reasons).
