Hello everybody, iam really interested to find out if there is anybody here with always high BP. Mine is usually around 140/90 when i wake up, it stays around 150/100 almost all day with occasional spikes up to 190/130 and comes down again when i go to sleep. In during my sleep it gets down much lower.

I always read about POTS patients with low BP. Anybody here with high BP? I had these numbers for years now. Thanks, carinara

POTS patients can have high bp. Definition of POTS is only the change in heart rate. But you are right it seems that most POTS patients have low bp.

Mine is very variable. Typically, when not too POTS-y my bp is around 110/65. When I have a flare up it goes up and can at times reach 150/90.

Has your dr talked about or tried controlling it with meds?

I seem to have the same pattern as carinara except that I measure lower when I wake up.

So far, what I have tried to lower the highs has felt terrible including the one which looked so promising from the description of what it does. How many blood pressure medications do you guys try before finding what works? And do you go back to the specialist or your regular doctor? Do you explain that it feels like trial and error or do you just get one, and then go back when it feels awful?

I thought when normal people went in, they just got some blood-pressure lowering medication and never complained about how it felt. High blood pressure was a silent killer and blood pressure meds treated people equally silently ...

I'm frustrated like carinara and given my dilemma above, I was just hoping today that someone civic-minded on here could create a blood pressure donation bank (thread):

For systolic pressure, I have 40 mm Hg to donate for standing activities during the day and would like 10-20 mm systolic Hg for sleeping.

For diastolic pressure, I have 20 mm Hg to donate for standing activities.

I would like to donate my excess blood pressure to potsgirl as it is my understanding that she is at the top of the critical list for blood pressure donations for standing.

For anyone who wishes to respond that it is impossible to donate blood pressure, here is my response in advance: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pun.

Mine goes all over the place and so I feel like a dizzy dame. 96/64 to 184/103. Lately my pressure wants to climb to longer I try to stand. It makes me feel so sick. Then I'll sit and stand and it will drop and heart rate goes up so high I'm ready to pass out, but I don't because I know now what to do. I have my drinks and will go right to the floor if needed.

I spent the morning out with family and now I can't stop shaking. I did too much trying to act normal. I just stood and I was 138/95 112. If I continue to stand the bottom # wants to go higher and my heart rate climbs. My PC said it's my new weight gain from the salt and being bed bound and exercise intolerant. When I lose weight my bottom # always comes down. Has anyone else put on about 35 extra pounds in the past year?

My PC used to tell my if my bottom # was that high I would be dead. lol As I was taking it at a drugstore at first pre-pots. Then she found out I was not kidding. When I get too high I have to call the cardio, especially if I have a migraine. If I can treat myself at home we do that. If not it's off to the ER. So, I'm actually sad to hear others are having this problem also, as I feel like I'm on a daily roller coaster ride that I never said I wanted to go on.

Should we just start the Good Luck Club?

Things have got to get better soon. : )
