EarthMother
For me POTS does strange things to my metabolism. But when I crashed last spring (with the reactive hypoglycemia) I had lost 15 pounds in a matter of a weeks. It wasn't until I got my blood sugar straightened out that I was able to get some weight back ON!
MelissaCrystal
Low blood sugar makes most people lose weight, because the body cannibalizes itself when in the low-states. But your metabolism can definitely fluctuate when you have POTS. If I were a doctor, I'd say your weight gain was most likely due to the SSRI's. Makes most people gain weight, and some people lose weight.
MomtoGiuliana
I agree re the SSRI. SSRI's can cause changes in appetite that cause weight gain.
flop
I have put on quite a bit of weight whilst taking Paroxetine (an SSRI) - it increases your appetite.
juliegee
Northerndarlene-Low blood sugar most definately can make you gain weight. It is a VERY typical symptom. (I respect others who've had different experiences, but according to my endo, weight gain is very typical with low blood sugar.) And, as everyone has already added, SSRI's can also make you gain weight. Frustrating.....Julie
