What Branch Of Neurology

The neurologist I saw is head of an "Autonomic Unit" - is there any category involving the word "autonomic"? If so that is the one to go for. Otherwise please give the whole list of sub-specialities that you are choosing from (some things have different names in the UK).

Hi,

Or less another specialty fits better, I believe my neurologist is a neurophysiologist and at this facility he is the one that seems to treat these disorders and also performed my EMG test.

In other settings other specialties may be more appropriate. If in doubt you could call the office and see if the dr treats these conditions. For neurologists look for those who treat small fiber or autonomic neuropathy will likely be the most useful to treating Dysautonomia. Rather than those who treat balance issues or movement disorders.

Hope that helps some! :)

The Neurologist I see here in the UK specialises in Neuro-Vascular medicine and Autonomic Dysfunction. I also see a specialist in Neuro-Otology but she doesn't know anything about POTS even though it was my POTS Cons. who referred me to her regarding my balance probs. That seems to be a seperate issue as far as the POTS is concerned. Helen

Hi, Do you see a Cardiologist? Maybe he could recommend the best Neurologist to see in your area and for your condition. Hope you get someone nearby. I have to travel 500 miles to see my specialist which is a nightmare but I know he is the best there is in the UK as far as I know. Helen
