Tommyhoney
I was fortunate enough to live in a town where a wonderful Doc treats this, and now I will be moving out of state in mid-July. I can't imagine how I can see him once a month, from 700+ miles away. The people who treat this up there are still far away, and have outrageous wait times for new patients....Any advice will be greatly appreciated.PeaceTommy
Megan
Have you asked your current dr for suggestions? Maybe he knows someone who is decent in that area or can call and bump an appointment up for you. Just a thought.Meg
Rachel
First, I would find a good primary care physician in your new location. A good pcp can be a huge help! Even if you can't get in to see specialists regularly, a pcp can stay in contact with the specialist, and follow their treatment advice. A pcp may also know of a doctor in the area who would be qualified to treat you. You just never know who you might find. The best POTS doctor I ever had was an internal medicine doctor who had worked with a top autonomic specialist in the past. Though dysautonomia wasn't all he did in his practice, he was very knowledgeable and a valuable asset to my team of doctors.Currently I have only one specialist who is within an hour of my house. The rest of my doctors are out of state. I see them about once a year, and email or call when questions arise. The specialists sent letters to my pcp detailing treatment instructions. My pcp takes care of prescriptions, keeping monthly records of my health, doing prior authorizations with insurance, etc. It may not be as easy as getting to see a specialist once a month, but it works.I hope you can find the doctors you need.Rachel
