  1. Hi Ladies,

Yes, I know that it's usually related to Paxil and/or other anti-depressants, but that doesn't appear to be the case here. I haven't missed any meds, started a new bottle, and changed a dosage in any of my meds recently. I need to get my pacemaker checked, then in to a doc, I think.

    Thanks for the input!

    Cheers,

    Jana

  2. Nauthiz,

All you can do is try. Everybody reacts to these drugs in different ways, but most of us tend to be drug-sensitive. I cannot tolerate Florinef or Midodrine, but I know others who take them and love the effects they produce. Just start off with tiny doses and see how your body reacts. If you're ok, slowly increase you dosage, and see how you feel. Please keep us informed of your progress. We're rooting for you!

    Cheers,

  3. jjb & Alicia,

Interesting thoughts, both on the Paxil and the charges from electricity around you. My PCP had another thought - I do have a pacemaker, and I need to check it to make sure it's running ok. The other thing she suggested was to get myself checked for epilepsy, since there's a type of seizure called 'atonic' that causes these symptoms and that people will pass out or come close to it. I'll experiment with my Paxil, too. I have been on those such a long time that it's hard to think that they'd cause a problem now, but you never know.

    TGIF & Cheers,

  4. Hello,

I need to know if anybody else has ever had problems with having something that feels like an electrical current hit in the front on your brain and then have it travel to the back. It makes my whole body feel strange, and I feel kind of 'out of body' and like I could just drop and pass out. I've had these for 5 days in a row now, and they're getting worse. Please, if you've had something similar or might know something, please share it. I can't get into my neuro for 2 months...

    Thanks, all!

  5. Dear Nina,

You and your father have been through so much. My heart is hurting for you right now. I had to slowly watch my father die of lung cancer, and I know how hard it is to see a loved one die slowly. Please remember to take care of yourself, and I'm praying for both you and your father, along with everyone else that's hurting right now. You're doing the right thing - making time for some peaceful, restful moments.

Positive energy and thoughts your way,

    Jana

  6. Hola Everybody~

I went to court yesterday for my federal disability case - after 2 years! - and won. Yes, it is possible. I feel vindicated and soooo happy. The other good news for the people who know my boyfriend's cancer situation, is that his cancer has not spread. He will have surgery at the end of July. So, even though I'm not physically feeling well today, it's still a terrific one!

Thanks to all who were supportive, it meant so much.

    Cheers,

    Jana

  7. My doctor told me to stash something salty on my nightstand, and to eat it before getting out of bed. Pretzels work for me. Also, if you're taking Midodrine, take it before you get out of bed, too. Preferably a half hour or so.

Hope this helps and you feel better soon!

  8. Babette,

What an interesting post. I have a cardiologist who's a specialist in Tucson that tells me I have POTS, and a neurological specialist at Mayo that tells me the 'newer' guidelines for POTS makes it an ineligible diagnoses for me since my BP only drops when I stand. TTT and testing at home, I'm usually around 95-100/50 when lying down with a pulse of 60; standing my BP drop as low as 65-70/50, my pulse shoots up to 100-130. Supposedly, your BP should not lower by much when standing, but your heart rate should increase by at least 30 bpm. So I'm either labeled with "POTS" or severe orthostatic hypotension.

    Best of luck to you!

  9. Hi Rene,

I was just complaining about this very problem on Monday. If I dare venture to a movie, the grocery store, or anywhere that runs their air conditioning rather high, I freeze. So...While the temp is 102 outside, I have to dress in jeans, a long sleeved shirt, socks and tennies and bring a hoodie sweater along or I can't bear the cold inside, while I'm overly hot outside. I also get the shakes/tremors from both the cold and just being inside with the temp at 77, and am constantly sitting with my hands tucked between my legs or wrapped in my sweater. Sometimes my legs are so shaky coming down the stairs that I sit on my behind to come down.

I'm so sorry that you're suffering from these problems, too. I wish I had an answer, but I just put on more clothes...Be well, and take care my friend.

  10. I think it's always best to eat several small meals throughout the day, but make sure you're eating the appropriate kind of food, like Delphic Dragon recommended. There are websites where you go plug in your height and your desired weight to find out how many calories you should be eating a day, depending on your activity level. With a little bit of effort, you can track your calories per day and make sure you stay within your range. Any exercise, even from the bed or chair also helps. If you'd like the name of a great website, PM me.

The other concern would be something like celiac disease. You might want to make an appointment with your gastro guy just to rule out other stomach issues that may also be going on. I know several of us with indigestion disorders that they can treat and feel better.

    Hope this helps!

    Take care, Jana

  11. Cordelia,

I wish I had the answers for you, and that I could take your pain away - that would make me one popular woman on this site! All I can do is tell you that we're all behind you, supporting you and empathizing with your pain, misery, fear, and the list goes on. I can relate to what you're going through, and wish you peace and comfort knowing all of us on this site wish you only the best. I hope you feel better very soon, and I'm sending positive thoughts and energy your way.

    Take care,

    Jana

  12. Jan,

I'm sorry that you're having these nasty symptoms and are looking at having to undergo some pretty intense tests again. I have to say I'm in favor of you getting these tests done, especially if you haven't had a work-up for the past 3-4 years. A lot can change during that time. When did you have your catherization eval? Do you mean an angioplasty? I would just get the tests out of the way, and then you know if everything is ok or not. I have a history of cardiomyopathy and bradycardia and have a pacemaker, so I would tend to err on the side of too much instead of too little testing.

I hope this helps, and please let us know what you decide. Be well.

    Jana
