Printed materials should contain -Appointment Details INFORMATION ONLY: Home CGMS: This visit is for patients wanting to use a glucose sensor that they insert in their subcutaneous tissue and change every 6-14 days. It checks their interstitial sugar level and provides real time glucose readings. Alarms can be set to warn of high/low sugars. Valuable for patients on insulin therapy/insulin pumps and for those with hypoglycemia unawareness. Dx CGMS: This is a diagnostic procedure. This visit is for patients who will have a glucose sensor inserted at the diabetes educator's office and they will wear it for 10-14 days. The patient returns the sensor and the diabetes educator downloads it. Results are interpreted by the PCP if trained or a designated MD.
