Outaker
I have hyper pots and saw Dr. Goodman yesterday at the mayo clinic. He perscribed Carbidopa ?? isnt that a dopamine booster??
Guest KiminOrlando
I think it is a dopamine inhibitor. Hope someone with actual knowledge speaks up though. This sounds interesting. Does it smooth it out so it inhibits spikes or just supress it? Sounds like the opposite of Droxydopa (Northera). Is he using it as an off lable? Did your insurance approve it? Outaker
Don’t care about insurance at this point I’ll lay anything I have seen the top doctors everywhere and they have no idea how to control my tachy and bp. Beta blockers make me so bad and the only thing that works barely is clonidine
Outaker
Hmm might be on to something here http://grantome.com/grant/NIH/R01-FD004772-01A1
Guest KiminOrlando
I said the same thing until one of my drugs was $50,000 a year. Hopefully you can get in on that grant. Let us know if this works.

Outaker
I have began the routine. I am Hyper Pots I am currently taking Carbidopa Tenex and Losartan
p8d
Thanks @Outaker How is it going? I was surprised that you are on both Tenex and Cardiodopa. I think I am missing something? Is the peripheral action against dopamine or some other catecholamine than norepinephrine (which the Tenex should hit?)? Please let us know how it helps or not. Thanks. Thanks. Tenex is Guanfacine which Is an Alpha 2 Agonist like clonidine. Carbidopa is a Parkinsons drug but it has been found to block perpipheral dopamine levels which prevents conversion to norepinephrine so in essence it lowers norepi in tissues not the brain. losartan is angiotesin 2 blocker. Runnersmom
My son has hyper pots and is starting to see improvement since being prescribed Carbidopa. It took seven months to notice a difference, but it has finally kicked in. His recovery time has been shortened and he is actually been able to leave our house for a short period of time. He is still unable to read or concentrate for more than 15 minutes, and unfortunately that did not improve.
p8d
@Outaker how are you doing on this drug? My cardiologist just prescribed it but I haven’t started it yet because we are waiting for the results from a 24 hour BP test. Side effects? Does it lower your BP? boom99
I started Carbidopa 4 days ago and I am miserable. I thought this drug was supposed to have minimal side effects. Any one else get worse they got better on Carbidopa.
