Chaos
Finally some researchers seem to be catching on to what a lot of dysautonomia patients have known (or at least suspected) for a long time.http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24662556Evidence seems to show that sympathetic nervous system dysfunction appears to be common in ME/CFS, Fibro, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Interstitial Cystitis.Nice that it's showing up in mainstream medical journals too. Mermaid
Thanks Chaos, very interesting. Wouldn't it be lovely to 'regain autonomic balance'?
spinner
I'd love to see them make a correlation to leaky gut syndrome (intestinal permeability) and hormonal issues (thyroid, adrenal) as well.
xRobin
It seems like CFS, IBS, IC, Fibro are often referred to as functional or medically unexplained (and often brushed off as stress or psychological). I recall reading that other ailments are similar back in the day before they had diagnostics - MS was hysterical paralysis and childhood asthma was explained as a 'cry for mother's attention' and treated with psychotherapy. It's heartening that medical science is catching up to finding a cause and, let's hope, diagnostic toolkits for clinicians for many of these common chronic diseases.
