Darlene
my 1st mri showed a few white matter lesions periventricular white matter, the second mri showed few white matter lesions periventricular white matter, and my last mri showed minimal T2/FLAIR signal abnormalities within the periventricular white matter. what does minimal mean? doesn't say how many lesions. the impression says "minimal T2/FLAIR signal abnormalities within the periventricular white matter which may represent the sequela of prior demyelination". JuneFlower
I have this same result on my MRI's as well. I actually have many areas of this. The dr.'s say it is insignificant. But every case is different so I would ask your actual dr. I some lesions are associated with chronic migraines. I have migraines so I have assumed this is from that.JunePS mine also mentioned demyelination and this scared me. But it's been about 4 years and I'm still fine. Katybug
I also have multiple mris that state I have 2 white matter lesions. The mris were done at separate facilities and interpreted by different radiologists. They both stated that my lesions are consistent with chronic migraine. As JuneFlower stated above, it can mean different things, so you should clarify yours with a doctor. But, I just wanted you to know you don't have to assume the worst. Chaos
http://www.riken.jp/en/pr/press/2014/20140404_1/The above is a study out of Japan discussing how they are finding lesions on PET scans in ME/CFS patients brains that correlate with the symptoms that the patients are complaining about such as memory loss, headaches, etc. They have been discussing finding UBOs (unidentified bright objects) in the brains of ME/CFS patients for years which radiologists have been blowing off but which researchers have been thinking are significant. The specialist I see has said that they have been found to correlate with appearing when people have "flares" in symptoms and disappearing when they are in remissions. They don't know exactly what is causing them but do think they are related to the disease. Since so many people with the disease have migraines as a comorbid condition who knows what comes first. JuneFlower
well i hate to add confusion to that theory, but I don't have POTS or anything, (my daughter does). I have plenty of white matter lesions. I seem to just have migraines and maybe fatigue but I don't meet the criteria for CFS. So….my theory, is they just don't know what these things mean. It is well known now that migraines cause small amounts of brain damage but that they don't know if this damage has any symptoms. Weird.June
