Mamawithpots
I am 35 weeks pregnant, diagnosed with pots in January and have only seen my pcp and cardiologist up until now. They are sending me to a Maternal Fetal something something, who is not a Pots specialist but deals with all of the high risk pregnancies. Can you think of anything specific I should ask them about being pregnant and pots etc? I think I'm only going in once and I don't want to waste this apt. JuneFlower
Not sure what I would ask. Congratulations. It's probably a perinatologist. I would educate the doctor about POTS -maybe bring a study from a reputable journal- and if you have hypovolemic POT, I might ask how the IVF will be managed. kayjay
I was undiagnosed when I had my children so I had to give this some thought. I would ask about saline- often during labor you are only permitted to suck on ice chips. Maybe you should ask about staying hydrated.I also found that the epidural lowered my BP. You may want to discuss all possible medications. I had pitocin which is pretty common. My big question would probably be about anesthesia in case you have an unplanned c-section.Also I was induced with my first child. It might be an option for you. I was on bed rest and having a set induction date made things more manageable.
