Doctors Told Me Pregnancy Can Cure Pots

On separate occasions I asked two POTS neurologists/specialists if I recovered would it be risky to have children in case I got ill again since many people get pots after having children. Both of them said that no, and that for many it’s actually a cure! (but that I shouldn’t get pregnant for this to happen).

Can’t help feeling slightly sceptical about this…Thoughts anyone?

My pots started when I got pregnant. I felt awful, bedridden, unable to eat or drink, just horrible. It took about 3 1/2 years before I seen any kind of improvement. I'm definitely not back to pre pots but I remember begged my gyno to take my daughter early because I felt so bad.

I've had two babies while being diagnosed with POTS and it wasn't a cure for me. I felt terrible during the pregnancies and felt amazing after! I literally felt the best I've ever felt in my life (I still had POTS, but it was much milder). Unfortunately, shortly after my 2nd baby I had to have my gallbladder removed. That surgery sent my body into a downward spiral! I wish we could all be the same so we could know for sure how a pregnancy would affect us. Just make sure you have good doctors you can talk to a lot!

Thanks for the replies. Yes, from what I’ve read pregnancy helps some and not others, and some people feel better after giving birth but not all. I was just surprised that both of them said that it could work as a trigger for getting better completely, I’ve never read anything like that before.
