Gluten Ataxia?

Tyler had the blood testing for Celiac done yesterday. Five different blood test were ran and they should be back within 2 weeks. I have been doing some research on the forum and came across the term Gluten Ataxia. For those that have experienced this, Is this a gradual thing that happens? I have done more research online and this condition is rare. If you have had this condition, Was it reversible? Are you required to stay on gluten free the rest of your life?

Part of Tyler's testing has come back. One blood test showed High Neuronal Cell Signaling. Still waiting on the rest of the test results.

Hi Looneymom,

The conferences that I have been going to say that gluten ataxia is pretty common, just not recoginzed here as much. In Italy if a young person has neurological symptoms that cannot be explained the first thing they test for is gluten intolerance.

Here is an article

I hope Tyler's testing helps the Doctors. It is reversible.

Forgot to say that when I first went to my celiac support group meeting and asked if others had ataxia, orthostatic problems, etc most had no idea what I was talking about. BUT once I described the symptoms many could relate.

I'm assuming they simply got a pat on the head by their doctors vs a proper dx for their symptoms. Most were probably told that they're just getting older or anxious. Haha tc ... d
