Freaked
Have hyperPOTS and for the last 6 weeks I've been getting a lot of low fevers of about 37.5-38C (99.5-100.5F). Sometimes they're daily. Before that it was mostly low body temp I was getting, which still happens now and then. My ANA, WBC and inflammatory markers seem to be fine, so no real obvious cause. They make me feel pretty bad sometimes though.Thing is, my doc has literally no clue if this is normal for POTS. She Googled it :-/ And my specialist is a cardiac electrophysiologist, but it didn't sound like he'd encountered temperatures before. Asked docs online and they said it wasn't a regular POTS symp, but no idea if they're right.Anyone else get this?
Hope
Yes, this happens to me and it comes and goes. POTS is just part of dysautonomia. Temps can be deregulated by dysautonomia. Although, I also have CFS which also causes temps. But that doesn't mean there isn't something else going on with you, like a virus or a smoldering infection. Hope you are feeling better soon! katrina13
Yes, I've had that-- in my case it got better after I was prescribed hydroxyzine (which is an anti-histamine) for Interstitial Cystitis. If I don't take it, the fevers come back, so I'm guessing it's something to do with that? I've had an EDS diagnosis along with POTS, and the doctor told me there's often a link between EDS and mast-cell disorders, so maybe it was tied to something like that. I don't have the resources to look for a mast-cell diagnosis just now, so I'm not sure, but I'm very glad the hydroxizine takes care of the fevers.I hope you find a solution to yours! dmjl27
This actually happened to me quite a bit in the 'beginning'. I had daily 'evening' low grade temps. I have a low normal core temp, already, so it was odd for me. I would 'flush' and be red like a tomato. My doctor said it was very normal for dysautonomia to have these types of low grade temps. I got used to them. Now, I don't have them daily, but more like just a few times a month....always followed by facial flushing. Doctor reminded me that the autonomic nervous systems controls temperature, and it's very normal to have wide swings of temperatures since your internal 'thermostat' is broken.
