Jennij Posted July 3, 2013 Report Share Posted July 3, 2013 I tried taking Zantac and Claritan together today and the claritan (i'm pretty sure) made me feel like I was on speed. angelloz Posted July 3, 2013 Report Share Posted July 3, 2013 I have been diagnosed with MCAD and have tried several H1 H2 combinations but no luck so far. I can take Claritin in small doses but anything higher than a quarter tablet at a time makes me jittery as well. Even Benedryl can have this affect when it would make me so sleepy before the onset of this illness. You are not alone with this reaction. margiebee Posted July 3, 2013 Report Share Posted July 3, 2013 I get very sleepy from all antihistamines, but my boyfriend (doesn't have POTS but i feel this still applies) has a paradoxical reaction where he gets hyperactive from them and is calmed and sedated by stimulants like caffeine. I know this is linked to ADD/ADHD so if you have anything like that, that could be the cause. Or just an odd reaction. I don't think its too uncommon.
