lukgar1
Has anyone been able to do cardiac rehab? My doctor said insurance will not cover it for a diagnosis of POTS. Both he and I feel it would be beneficial but costly. Anyone have experience with this?
kitt
I just got a script for cardio rehab from my cardiologist, and your post surprised me. I have good insurance, and have never had them deny any type of physical therapy.Did some research tonight and it seems like a lot of people have not had success with their insurance companies paying for it. But some have.I'll be making some phone calls tomorrow to find out more.
lukgar1
My insurance is pretty good too and has payed for everything thus far(knock on wood). I'm wondering whether or not it's because he doesn't deal with POTS much? Do you have another diagnosis? I might ask my electrophysiologist about it and see what he says. jpjd59
My daughter's insurance covered most of the costs of her cardiac rehab for her POTS.
kitt
I just called my insurance company and they say I'm covered, although I didn't tell them it was for dysautonomia. It's being prescribed by a cardiologist who's very knowledgeable about dysautonomia, so I think it will be a go. SpinnyC
My ins wouldn't cover cardiac rehab either. So I was put into cardiac maintenance instead. (A program that people who've finished rehab can go into if they want to stay with supervised exercise.) I haven't seen any difference between the two programs. It's the same hospital with the same staff that the rehab program would have been. They gave be an exercise program and monitored my vitals. I pay a monthly fee, but it's way lower than it would have cost to pay for individual rehab sessions not covered by ins.
