Rachel Posted March 1, 2012 Report Share Posted March 1, 2012 Ugh. You can talk with someone in the office to see if they can offer you a discount. Some places will do this for patients who don't have insurance. I don't know if they will do it for someone who has insurance but is out of network. It can't hurt to ask. You can also check to see if they offer any financial aid programs. If not that, you can ask about working out a payment plan so that you don't have to pay the whole $2000 at once. RichGotsPots Posted March 4, 2012 Author Report Share Posted March 4, 2012 well I had to cancel two doctors now because they said they were covered but then when i probed further they said they might not be for my particular plan so now i have no POTS specialists, great! DoozlyGirl Posted March 6, 2012 Report Share Posted March 6, 2012 You could try to build a case to convince your insurance company that they don't have POTS specialists in network. I know of several people with rare disorders that have been able to elevate an appeal to the medical review board of the insurance company (physician review) who have been granted in network status for these out of network providers.
