RIfainthearted
I went to the pharmacy today to purchase a new blood pressure monitor. I asked the pharmacist which brand was the most accurate. She pointed out one and said it was better than the store brand. I told her that I actually had that brand at home and when I took my BP standing, it would register an error reading. She said that's because you are never to take your BP while standing. I replied that I had a condition that required it. I mentioned that when my systolic readings were in the 70's or 80's it wouldn't give a reading. She then told me that they are never made to go that low because it is too dangerous to have such a low BP. I responded that that was the point- mine does go that low and that's why I need to have an accurate reading when it does. She shrugged and walked away. Using her logic, I guess BP monitors stop working because after all, our BP's just shouldn't be that low. Good to know...

tinkerbella
The best you can get is the OMRON HEM-7901T This is the only one my cardio trusts. Get the one with the arm cuff.He feels they are the most accuarte. This model you can plug into acomputer and print out readings. You can use the two modes one forlaying and the other for standing as that shows the biggest changein your signs. If you need one right away buy one at a drug store and try it out.you have 3o days to return it and I ordered mine on Amazon.com and saved so much more money and got it like in a week, then returnedthe other to the drugstore. No questions asked. My pressures have dropped as low as 50 and as high as 106 (sys). I drop to the low 90 (dis). But it has gone lower on my friend. It alwayscalabrates with the doctor's office. I can't believe it's still workingwith all the pressures I take on it. I Love mine!!!!!!! Good Luck.Bellamia~

bkweavers
I also have to say that our pharmacists are excellent. They are great listeners, they make sure and answer any questions and they have been very helpful. I can't tell you how many times in the past year, they've made phone calls to doctors to make sure that my daughter got her medication when the doctor wouldn't call back. We go to the pharmacy so often, they now know me by name. You would think someone in any health profession would be helpful to people but I guess that's not always the case! We had a suppossed POTS specialist who was the worst doctor you could imagine and head of cardiology to yet! Brenda
