Anyone Have Vasculitis?

Recommended Posts

I just got test results that are positive for vasvulitis. Had one negative one a couple months ago, also a positive one from Mayo.

It makes sense but still is piling on. See Rheumatologist Tues. When I called and told the nurse it was + she called right back with an appointment the next day my doc is in. Early in morn. Oh well......

Do you have any symptoms of vasculitis or do you just have a positive ANCA result? ANCA like many other tests can be non-specific and often no cause is found for a positive result. It is also well known that ANCAs can go from positive to negative and vice-versa. My local doctor won't request ANCAs on the basis that he doesn't know how to interpret the results, he says it is a test to leave for rheumatologists to do.

I'm glad that you test was organised by a specialist and that it won't be too long before you can discuss the results with them. I hope that whatever your diagnosis, that the doctor has some good treatments for you and that you improve quickly.

Best wishes,

My sister developed vasculitis of the central nervous system. Hers was a rare side effect of chemo. Her first symptom was a grand mal seizure. She was put on several medications for it and after the first 24 hours it kept her seizures pretty well controlled. She also had mental confusion for several days after the first seizure which also cleared up.

I don't know if vasculitis is throughout the body or if it can effect only certain areas?

Yes I do have a host including eye,,lung and kidney. My rheumatologist suspected this. So Tues will hope for more info. Thanks M

Vasculitis can affect just one area or it can be a multi-system problem. There are lots of different types of vasculitis. A friend's husband has Wegner's Granulomatosis which is a form of vasculitis (he was initially misdiagnosed as having Tuberculosis).
