  1. Hi,

I've only had problem with Hypothyroidism according to my blood tests so I'm on Synthroid, but everytime I go into to my regular physician and he listens to my continued issues with my health, he's always suspecious of my thyroid levels being off, so he orders more blood tests but they are always within range, but my mom has hashimoto thyroid problems and throughout her life has swung between being low and than high from time to time and has some sort of radition treatment to kill part of her thyroid gland even though she was hypothyroid for the most part and is back to being low again. So I think it does mess with a persons system pretty bad even when on meds to control it!

    Take care,

  2. Hi Cathy,

I'm not sure exactly how I "cope" with the fatigue, but when I can rest, I do. It's very difficult with a toddler in the house to really rest but I am in and out of a recliner most of the day. Today the fatigue is really bad too and I am counting down until her nap as I can barely handle keeping my eyes open right now! When the fatigue isn't as heavy as it is today I can usually tolerate or "cope" a little better :) If I could, I'd need at least two naps a day or more depending on if I slept well the night before or not.

This website is such a wonderful support and actually is one of my best ways in "coping" with all the symptoms. Not sure what I'd do without it :)

    Take care,

    Tammy

  3. I love the spoon concept. I never know how to explain to people what I go through daily and usually just say that I'm just too tired to do anything, knowing they couldn't understand or want to hear about the struggles I go through hour to hour, but the "spoon" explaination seems more comprehendible to those who have not been in our shoes.

    thanks

  4. I get these fairly frequently, sometimes I notice them more and other times not. What my cardio said is they are premature beats and then the pauses comes from it going back into the normal pattern of your heart beating. These usually also give me a sensation to cough or like a little bit of pressure in my throat. If this isn't something you've experienced before you may want to check with a dr.

  5. Thanks for the helpful advice. Today was the first time I tried putting them on and they about kicked my butt! I was so exhausted after getting them on I had to lay down for a while therefore delaying my need to even being wearing them at the time! For some reason they decided to bunch around my foot like a giant rubber band and I couldn't pull them higher without a struggle. I haven't felt much better yet, but maybe it takes time.

  6. Thanks for the info! I don't have any sort of feelings, mentally with it. It's all physical, no sense of fear other than once the episode starts, how sick I'm feeling does scare me, so if that's a panic attack, I don't know. I just wish they would go away as it leaves me feeling so sick the rest of the day!

  7. People can be so insensative and nieve at times. My parents had the exact same thing happen to them. My brother is completely disabled since birth and they have a van that transports him with a handicapped license plate and wheelchair lift. They were parking in a handicapped spot which was the last one there and a car pulled up behind them blocking them in and the guy gets out and threatens to ram their van because he wants the spot and he wasn't disabled in any shape or form!!!!!! My parents are in their 80's and take care of my brother and do the best they can. I just don't understand people sometimes, so I understand your venting and irritation.

  8. Hello! As I'm always referring to my sudden weakness, nausea, shakes/chills, etc spells as adrenaline rushes, I've noticed some here referring to panic attacks and wonder if they are the same as what I deal with. Can someone describe what they are and how they feel during them? Thanks.

    God bless,

  9. Hi, just came back from another follow-up appt with my cardio and he's decided to also prescribe compression stockings as he's thinking part of my tachy problems, lightheadness, weakness, etc. could be stemming from low BP when upright. He wrote out the prescription for thigh-high ones that the second level of compression. I haven't gone to the pharamcy yet as I first wanted to know if this helps anyone and also how often do you wear them. My doctor suggests everyday at first to see if they help or not, but he mentioned they are not comfortable so I'm not sure I'll put up with it if it's too annoying. Thanks for any input.

  10. Your hypersensativity is not uncommon. I wouldn't have a clue if it's related to MVPs or not but I do know a few of my friends that have similar "life theatening" allergies to certain foods, coloring, ect. Each time they get close to products with the ingredients that they are allergic too and have a reaction, the worse these allergic reactions are becoming. One person I know has three types of meds that she had to carry with her at all times incase of an allergic reaction to certain spices. I believe the meds were prescribed by a physician at the Mayo Clinic with reports from the Emergency Room visits.

  11. Not that this is maybe any correlation but my dad had a severe reaction to a cortison shot and his BP sky rocketed for whatever reason. They had him increase his pill amount for a week and than as his BP came back down he went back to his normal dosage. Since your doctor is probably not available to contact over the weekend, another option is a pharmasist, they seem to know all about drugs, and have found them to be very helpful with questions as yours. Good luck.

  12. Well today my regular physician (not my cardio as I see him for my TSH levels) gave me a trial pack of a drug called Lexapro to hopefully help the awful adrenaline rushes that seem to follow activity or being startled or not sleeping enough, etc. So here's my question... anyone else take Lexapro and have they seen it helping with tachy, chills, etc? Just wanted to do some research before I pop another new med. I'm still suppose to continue on the Diltiazem but not the Atneolol as that gave me worse skips/extra beats. Thanks for input!

  13. Okay here's an embarrasing questions... Does anyone else experience excessive gas during a tachy episode? I experience both toot and burps during my severe adrenaline/tachy episodes and it kind of freaks me out, let alone so embarrasing when I'm not at home and it hits!

Please tell me i'M not alone with this. I think this morning I could have powered my vehicle for a week with all that gas!

  14. Hi Dayna,

Please be careful! You might be better off cutting back on the amount over the next two weeks... please check with your doctor. I know my mom ended up having a heart attack when she discontinued her beta blocker, but she had been on them for a longer time, so you really have to be cautious with that.

    Good luck with it all

    God bless,

  15. I don't know why you'd need another TTT! If it's shown a positive result, you shouldn't have to keep going through these. Also, according to my cardiologist, TTT are 15% inaccurate so basing your treatment on it is going to have about the same accuracy rate! I go through phases when I give up or I guess I look at it as just "needing a break from drs and testing" and until I feel ready to deal with all that again, I don't. Only problem is I haven't made any progress in how I've felt either, so it's a catch 22!

Best of luck to you with it all and hopefully you'll find a specialist who can really help you.

  16. The amount I take is extremely small as I am extremely sensative to any medications. My EP starts me on the lowest dose possible and tells me to cut it in half. The Atenolol I believe is 25 but I cut it in half, so that would be 12.5 I guess. Maybe it's still too much for me, I don't know. My normal resting heart rate is usually around 70, but it varies depending on any stress or adrenaline producing activities (like lifting my daughter out of her crib) and it instantly shoots up to around 140 beats per minute. I have a follow-up appt in a week, so maybe I should ask to try something different or something that would be an extremely low dose, like for a child, maybe that would work?

    Thanks again!

    Tammy

  17. Well I tried the Atenolol again last night and it majoraly dropped my pulse, was in the 40's most of the time and felt like I couldn't take a deep breath and had premature beats constantly! I just don't know if I should take it again tonight or not. I just felt horrible from it and had the same thing happen 4 years ago when I first tried it. I just kind of think this isn't the med for me, but what confuses me is that both my brother and my dad are on it and they do well on it. Shouldn't it work for me to having the same genetics as them and all? Thanks for all your replies :)
