  1. Hi Pistol, Thanks for the reply. I will ask my GP to do the test and hopefully they will be helpful, this will be the first time visiting this surgery. I'm not sure where you are located but in the UK I have to see my GP first who will do some tests (probably bloods, Blood pressure etc), they will then wait for those results before deciding if all is okay or if they will refer me to a specialist. I know there's a POTS specialist at a nearby hospital so if they are willing to refer me I will ask to be refereed to him.
  2. Hi, I have been having a few symptoms of POTS for the last couple of years but until recently I didn't know there was a name for it and as I tend to avoid doctors at all costs I have just been putting up with the symptoms but I now intend to make a doctors appointment and speak to them about my symptoms/POTS. These are the symptoms I have been having: Dizziness when standing (this can happen consistently several times a day for days or I can go a week without this happening) Shaking when waking (this has happened around 5 times but it feels like my whole body is shaking yet it isn't noticeable when looking) Tiredness (physically drained/muscle weakness) breathlessness (I sometimes need to stop and catch my breath from walking up the stairs or doing the dishes etc) My BP is often low Feels like my heart is beating hard but it's normal on the BP monitor My symptoms also seem to worsen around my period (I initially thought it might be low iron as I have had low ferritin before) I get bleeding under the skin (small purplish spots which look like bruising that comes and goes. I'm not sure if this is a symptom of POTS?) My symptoms also seem to worsen after eating (today I didn't have any dizziness when standing until after eating, although this was also later in the day) I also have a few questions I will ask my doctor but if anyone knows the answer or has first hand experience I would be grateful. Can POTS cause anxiety or is anxiety a symptom of POTS? I have a blood pressure monitor at home mainly to keep track of my bloody pressure which can get quite low on occasions. Today I took my readings when lying down then standing and I got the readings below, would these indicate POTS? BP at rest 102/68 68 pulse Upon standing 104/80 95 pulse 2 mins standing 107/87 95 pulse 5 mins standing 115/92 98 pulse I intend to make a doctors appointment soon and ask for a blood test for B12, iron etc to rule out those but I do think POTS is a possibility as I seem to have a few of the symptoms. I would love to know what your experience of approaching your GP with POTS symptoms was and if you have any advice for when speaking to a doctor I would be grateful.
