Hello everyone, I’m new to the forum. I haven’t been diagnosed by a doctor yet but have been having this issue since I was a teenager. Recently I came across POTS on the Internet and realized that I have some of the symptoms of POTS.
When I was 15-16 (now in my mid-30s) my legs started having mild discoloration (red) after shower. Few years later, it became discolored 15-20 minutes after I stood up. And throughout the years it’s gotten more serious: they turn purplish now even when I sit down. But whenever I lie down, they turn back to normal. I went to a cardiologist and he ran some ultrasound tests on my legs. The blood flow is slow but it shows no plagues. My blood work is all normal. I have low blood pressure though I have never done a tilt table test. When I was younger, I would always experience dizziness when I stood up too quickly but I have never fainted. These days I experience the same thing only few days before my period. I also get a shaky if I don’t include meat in my diet (however I’m not diabetic according to my blood work; my mom is diabetic and does get shaky when she doesn’t include meat in her diet).
Over the years the issue has always been ignored by some doctors (who, I believe, have no clue what’s going on) while it had always been more of a cosmetics issue to me when I was younger, now I worry that it will lead to serious issues like amputation later on in life if I don’t do something now. I’m glad I came across this forum as it’s very informative. Again, I still have not been diagnosed to have POTS but I m eager to hear if anyone here has similar symptoms or know of anything related to poor blood circulation in the lower extremities. Thanks in advance!
