  1. Hey Orion. I do not know. But i can tell you, that when i had my first Symptomes my heart rate was similar to yours (do you take any meds ?). The Doctors I went to all brushed it off as anxiety because my stress test turned out fine, because I was doing it while lying down cycling.....I went to countless doctors and they all told me it was just in my head. I can not understand how i can get my heart rate from 130 to 55 just by sitting down if this is only anxiety. Did you have a flu Prior to experiencing These Symptomes or a prolonged time spent in bed ? Greetings from Germany PS: How old are you? Are you overweight ? Have you been physically active ?
  2. Hi everybody. My Name is John (26 years old) and I am a new member. I would like to share my Story and maybe help somebody out there. First and foremoste I want to state that I am not a medical professional, so everything I write here Comes from personal experience. 6 years ago I came down with a real bad flu. I had to stay in bed for one month. After that I felt extremly nervous. Everybody told me it is just anxiety but it got worse. I noticed that i felt very bad while Standing and felt much better when sitting or even better lying down. So one day I bought a heart Monitor and checked my heart rate. I was shocked to see, that while Standing it often went up to 140 or even higher just Standing there. I went to countles doctors and they all said it was just anxiety because my over all heart rate was good (my resting heart rate was 50). Long Story short the doctors here (i am from Germany) didn't even rly know what Pots was and put it all on anxiety. What followed was a time laying in bed mostly and letting time fly by. I could not live a normal life. I am sure this sounds familiar to what many of you have experienced. So there came a day, where I decided to fight the state I was in. From lying in bed all the time my Body has become so weak, that just Walking (besides my pots) was a Major issue. By coincidence I came across a Video of a man jumping into cold water. First his heart rate went up to 160 (because of the shock) and then it went down to 55. They call it the diving relfex. All mamals have it. Once immerced in water the Body shuts off the blood supply to your extremities and focuses it only on your lungs, heart and brain. So i gave it a shot. I went to the nearest pool and just dove. It was amazing not only did my heart not shoot up while Standing (under water) but it went down to 60. You can not believe how happy i was. I found a way to exercise without straining my Body to the Maximum. I started off by just diving up and down. to slowly Swimming, to now Swimming 4 miles a day. Something interesting happend AFTER my Swimming sessions. My pots was cured for maybe 1 hour, meaning i could walk without my heart rate spiking. It had to do something with the water. So I tested something. In the summer my pots always gets real bad. I hate the warm weather, because it seems to set off my pots. However I tried Walking outside with wet clothes. And again my pots was gone. Somehow cold water constricts the veins, preventing the blood to pool and thus Relaxing the heart. I am not cured yet my heart when Walking still goes up to 105 wich is much much better vs 145 at the beginning. When I walk the stairs it goes up to 125 or 130 (but i have to go up many stairs for that to happen) again vs 190 back then huge improvement. I now start slowly Jogging but not letting my heart rate go above 140. So that means running for 2 minutes and then Walking again. I know for many of you that is unthinkable because your heart rate would spike prob to 180 after a few seconds of Jogging like mine did. What I can tell you though is that for me this did not happen when diving and Swimming. Sure in the beginning when Swimming i was totally out of shape but I built up my strength. Again I am not a medic. I take no responsibility for anything I wrote here, but I was more than relieved once I found out there is a way to shut down my pots even for only an houre while in the pool). Greetings to all of you. And I hope that Things will Change for the good. I know how crushing this can be.
