  1. Well, think about how you would feel without one and with one. I went to disneyworld with a wheelchair, at first I was super embarrassed, but then as time went on, I didn't care how people looked at me. But my opinion is that you should probably get one, at least for reassurance. If you need it, it's there, if you don't need it, you don't. It just depends on how you feel. Good luck and have fun!

  2. I also love the seires I am Number 4, I am only on the first book, but it's awesome! (The second is called the power of six) Has action, twists, and a bit of romance so far, but it's not like the whole book.

P.S All the books everyone suggested are good and some of them sound cool!

  3. P.S I just remembered some tips from the Internet that I looked up when I had trouble sleeping...

-This is a weird one...try to stay awake while your closing your eyes and trying to sleep. I tried it once...it helped a bit...

-Try not to think about not being able to fall asleep. If you concentrate on really really trying to sleep, then you'll feel more awake. (I know, the body can be mean to you ;) )

-(I usually don't take naps so I don't know if this works...) No naps during the day. My doc told me that affects your sleep at night.

Good luck on falling asleep tonight!

  4. Huh. That stinks. I used to have a lot of trouble sleeping and then I took melatonin...that helped. Maybe you could try different sleeping pills? The drug store always has some variety. You could also try no caffeine for a day like coffee/chocolate? Also set up a routine...maybe reading, listening to quiet music, no electronics etc. I'm so sorry about the nausea and stomach pain waking you up. That's the worst feeling to have at night :(. I hope you get some sleep soon!

  5. I'm so sorry I could reply sooner:(. That stinks. Maybe it's just a short flare? I'm not sure. I've had POTS since December, so I know what you mean. Always be prepared for something new in your POTS part of life. And don't have a pity party all by your self! Let's all join in guys! Let's pity ourselves tonight! ;) I'll bring virtual cake. Ice cream anyone? :)

  6. P.S Teachr4k-I also have a boyfriend and even though he doesn't have POTS, he's been so supportive and sweet. He almost makes me feel a bit better :). I hope you, your daughter and family are doing well also!

Christyd-I can totally relate to that! It's so hard to get out if the house with POTS. Congrats to you and your son!

  7. Hello Sheila!

Welcome to the forum! I have had almost constant stomach pain for 7 months now. I can totally relate to all that. (it stinks though having it all the time:()I can also relate to the losing of weight. I lost like 9/10 lbs. For eating, I suggest light foods first, like, crackers/soup, then start taking small steps in eating. The thing I suggest for nausea is zofran. It has saved me at least 5 times! ;) Also sea bands, acupressure cuffs that go in between your two tendons. You can find me at the drug store or whatever. The good thing is people on this forum will support, advise, joke and comfort you all the way. I hope you will find a cure soon! Don't give up!

P.S "My body tells me no, but I won't quit, cause I want more!" (love that song!)

  8. Hey! Welcome to the potsies group! So sorry you went through all that:(. I'm 10 and can't imagine having chest surgery! Everyone on here has different symptoms, stories, doctors and things they have to do in regular life. But we all help each other along the way with our, (what I call it) "POTS part of life" so I hope we can help you!

    Best wishes,

    Kayla

P.S I totally know what you mean with the heat and heartrate stuff. I was super scared when the doctor took my HR standing up and it was 170! And I don't like heat as well. Feels really bad! And as KimbelGirl said, congrats on getting in to medical school! That must be awesome!
