  1. Jessica,

that's really GREAT news. I'm soooo happy for you. Don't know anything about the meds, just wanted to congratulate you. Hope you're feeling well and don't have too much trouble with this pregnancy. Like tearose I think your bloodvolume will increase enough to give you a great pregnancy (that's what I want for you anyway :P ). My husband and I have two sons and it's sooo great. They love to play football and tennis together and do computergames and it's so much fun to watch them do those things together!

  2. Merril,

Boy am I lucky, I just had to lay down during this test :P . Yes, it was very scaring because when they gave me the adrenaline my hr went up and bp got down dramaticly (dont know the figures 'cause I 'didn't feel much alive anymore :P ). They gave me something through the IV to get me back and that's when I slowly recovered. That was the first time my cardio mentioned POTS. I think it's a miracle he even had heard of it because a lot of doctors I talked to later, never had heard of this. So I'm very lucky to have this cardio, he sent me to a neuro who is a professor and nows of dysautonomia as well. So my track wasn't as long as a lot of my POTSfriends had to go through. So, in a way I'm lucky (also to have the best physical therapist in the world (I'm sorry for you guys, she's in the netherlands :P )and my familydoctor is always there to help me out when I need him).

So Chris, I hope you can find the right docs to help you out.

Good luck on your pregnancy btw.

  3. Hi Chris,

My cardio made me have an echocardiogram while having a stress test (that's where they give you an IV with adrenaline and watch how your heart is reacting to this). It's too dificult for me to explain what they saw at that moment (I'm having severe brainfog, have to correct almost every word I type) but it made my cardio (who isn't directly known with POTS) think of this. He send me to a neuro who did the TTT and after this test he diagnosed me with POTS. I hope to have helped you with this information. Oh and btw I don't think you're nuts. I'm seeing movies on my television late at night when it isn't even on, so who's nuts

  4. Jessica,

I was in Florida once (orlando, tampa, st. petersburg etc. etc.) and I really loved it. I'll ask my husband what he thinks of moving over  (guess he doesn't like the hurricanes you have!) It can be very cold in the netherlands during winter (I loved to play in the snow and skate with my children) and summers are not too hot.

  5. Hi blackwolf,

hope you are ready for your appointment with your cardio today, saw you had a tough night again. I'm glad you didn't loose your sense of humor. Wish you luck on your appointment (maybe raising your beta blockers could help you. I'm on a 300 mg dose of metoprolol which works for 24 hours a day and it definately helps me (although I really don't understand why but why should I bother  ).

BTW I don't advise you to raise on your BB's, just maybe you can talk this over with your cardio (what helps for me could be a danger to you, as you know we're all different).

  6. Hi rqt,

I'm, like you, doing worse when getting cold. When I'm cold I can't do anything to get warm again than take a hot bath and go in bed for about an hour and a half, sleep and then get dressed again. I'm getting cold when temperature comes under 21 degrees celsius and just without a reason a couple of times during the day. I figured it could have anything to do with my eatingpattern but thinking everything over it just doesn't make sense. I think it's just my body doesn't control my temperature anymore. When I go to bed in the evening I'm mostly terribly cold but within a few hours I start sweating terribly. I thought of hormones but everything turned out to be normal. The thing is, the cold makes me yawn very much and I feel exhausted and can't do anything then just try to get myself warm again and lay down. The yawning is my warning that things are getting out of hand and that I have to lay down. And like you mentioned: winter didn't even start ;) .

When I went shopping last week, I spent my money on buying a few nice and warm sweaters, hope that will do! Wishing you a not too cold winter,

  7. Ernie,

you are not boring anyone with your faintingstories. In fact I feel very sorry for you. I don't have this faintingproblems like you have, it must be very very frightening to possibly fall down all the time. I hope you don't hurt yourself having this. Although I don't care reading about your problems (that's what POTSfriends are for hey!) I would definately like it more when you could let us now your back at work. That's why I'm constantly trying new meds, to maybe find something that might get me my life back. Meanwhile I'm trying my very best to make life worth living for my family and me. Hope you're doing better now,

    Corina

  8. Amy,

don't worry to be whiny, I think we all are now and then. And you have reason enough to be. I agree with blackwolf in firing this doctor. You have to try and find a doctor you're comfortable with and who takes good care of you. I know that's easier sad than done but you need a doctor who understands the things you're going through. I'm very sorry to hear about your dog. We used to have a dog who turned out to have diabetes. After two years we had to have euthanized her, it's sooo sad to let this happen. Wish you the best,

  9. Hi Ernie,

I'm very sorry you have all this problems. I don't have this fainting all the time like you do but I can't get out of the house on my own because off balance problems, dizziness, bad walking etc. And this is what's making life miserable for me (besides all the other POTS stuff) because people aren't always around to take me out. In summer I can sit in my garden, which I love to do but I'm alone and have no one to talk to. No that it's autumn and getting colder I'm desperately inviting people to come over and drink a cup of coffee with me and most of all: talk! I'm lucky that our youngest son comes home during lunchtime but when he's going to another school next year he will go to another city and will be gone for the whole day. Our oldest son is at school nearby but is in school untill about three o'clock, does his homework and goes out to sport. So I can't help you very much with this, except for inviting people over to your house (but I don't know if that's a common thing to do in your country, in Holland it is and this can help me through the day). Wish you the best in recovering from this bad adventure you had,

  10. Thanks for answering all of you! I think it may have been a combination of different things, I may have been overwhelmed after a long period at home (you made me think this over Katherine), getting tired (yes, even in a wheelchair you get tired :D ) and maybe I needed very much fluid that day. But it certainly is not my normal me (what's normal anyway :P ). Maybe the combination with my memory loss is that it's making me worried, the short time memory is getting worse (Funnyfrog: I have a little pillbox which I fill every evening so I can check whether I took my meds or not) and I seem to loose some of the things I should know as well (that's what my husband says, in fact I don't know). Anyway, Katherine, a shock it was, but a very NICE one: I spent too much money on buying new clothes and I LOVED it.

  11. Hi,

I get the flu vaccination every year since the last four years. Since my familydoctor thinks of me as having high risk to become very sick IF I would get the flu, I get it for free. I would pay for it if necessary because I have been really sick from the flu the last time I had this. The vaccination doesn't do any harm to me but getting the flu does. My husband and youngest son get the vaccination because of their asthma.

  12. Last sunday I had a really great day, because one of my friends took me to Rotterdam where we went shopping. And instead of all the sportsshops we usually vistit when my husband and boys are with me, we now went to Esprit, Mexx, Hilfiger etc, etc,. We did all the girlsstuff and I LOVED it. I didn't go out shopping for a long time so I enjoyed it SO much. The only thing was that eventhough I've been to Rotterdam many times before I seemed to completely loose my sense of direction. I saw some shops that I saw before but didn't know where we were and felt completely mixed up. I also felt very dehydrated and asked my friend to stop somewhere to buy a drink (although we drank just before that, didn't eat much salt and I already drank about 2 liters). I didn't want to spoil our day and didn't tell my friend but it does make me feel worried. Is anyone of you having these problems as well? I felt glad I can't go out on my own 'cause I might not find my way home  . Hope to hear from you,

    Corina
