  1. I talked to my nurse about this, and she said that my doctor will only give me 3.5mgs. I think thats way too high to be starting at.,

esp with me being sensitive to things. I'm gonna try to talk him into starting out lower if he wont I guess I won't be able to take it.

  2. checked out the site

I do have all the symptoms of Addison Disease , including darkened skin. one time my aldosterone level did come back at only 1, but I guess

my doctor didn't think much of it, because the other time it was tested it was 7. I'm not sure what im going to do but this low bp

all the time is making me feel really bad, thinking about asking for flucortisone, but I've heard that it has a lot of side effects

  3. I was told that I have "probable" ms, that is affecting my nervous system, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has any brain lesions that

werent diagnosed as having ms,and have Dysautonomia ?

They need to do a lot more testing then MRI with one lesion to call it MS. I was just reading about that a few days ago. I would try for a second opinion if you feel they are wrong. But you can also have both MS and Dysautonomia together and its not uncommon.

I have one on my cspine and a bunch of little ones on my brain.

but my low bp started months before any lesions so I wasnt sure if low bp itself could cause them or not

  4. Your bp probably spikes like that because you are anxious.

I dont think a quarter of a 2.5 mg dose will do anything. I would take the full dose, but dont be surpised if you need more :)

yeah I think I might have had a little more energy for a awhile but other then that it didnt do anything.

I'm going to try the full dose tomorrow.

my chest did hurt on and off but its been happening the past few days more so I doubt its the medicine.

  5. I'd say if you have a good hospital to goto, go. but

I was already sent home with mine at 80/40..which is way too low.

the lowest its been at home its 50/30.(that could have been a mistake with the machine too, because it got higher the next reading)

In my experience no one takes low bp seriously. but

I hope they can help her

    * I was told if my heart rate gets to be below 50,that is a reason to go into the er, so maybe you can call an on call doctor and ask*

  6. Just wondering what everyone elses salt intake is? my doctors all keep telling me to increase it, but no one has ever said how much.

When I eat too much,or plain salt I feel short of breathe, but usually on foods it doesnt do that.

everything I eat is processed so it has a lot of salt, and I use between 4-6 salt packets a day that have 11% in. I also drink one gallon of water a day.

    is this enough salt?

I have had people tell me that you can overdo salt if its taken in excess

*on labwork that comes back my sodium is always normal, but on the very low end of normal**

  7. Are you feeling any better.

I do the spike when things hit my system too-I don't quite understand it. I thought maybe it was because I am allergic to corn and many pills have corn starch or some other corn derivative so I thought maybe it was an allergic response to the corn that sends my heart racing and head spinning.

During my last ER visit we double checked to make sure the Ktab were corn free and got the clear-sure enough I had a reaction as soon as it hit my system that I have no control over.

I tried to relax as much as possible prior to taking it, after, and during the reaction.

    I just don't understand it.

I do hope you're feeling better.

well, I honestly think I would have felt better drinking a starbucks and having something salty to eat lol

it didnt really do much if anything an hour after taking it my bp was 89/60, I know your not suppose to lay down with it but I was pretty sure it was low before I did.

I think tomorrow I'll try a half of one, then after that a whole one if that still doesn't work I'll try to rely on diet because its seems like it didn't do much at all--if anything-

I've been told that I had add before maybe I can just take ritalin for it (took 5mg and it was still 80/40 so maybe I need a higher mg of ritalin)

I also have raynaud's so I gotta watch it doesnt get worse on those.

sorry if my replys are a bit scattered lol its because my thinking is really foggy atm

Does anyone know any vitamins that raise it?

  8. I have chest pain with POTS, a heart murmur from mitral valve regurgitation, and my cardiologist is the doc who gives me the midodrine. I've had EKGs, echocardiograms, chest x-rays, and labs that made my cardio feel that my heart won't be harmed by volume expansion or midodrine.

I've had a work up like that too, so most likely it will be ok. I am taking half of 2.5 to start with in a few mins

took a quarter of one and my bp is now 141/92

and it didnt have time to hit my system i think its because im worried about it

before i took the medicine it was 90/60 but that was laying down

  10. You didn't say if you are taking any meds? My son had severe memory lapses. His homebound teacher commented that he seemed like an alzheimers patient! We were very worried also. Once the Dr. put him on florinef and midodrine he really improved and memory lapses are rare and very mild. Also, he would remember the things he was having trouble with later, which was a little reassuring that the info was there, he just couldn't access it for awhile. When you get your symptoms more stabilized you will feel better!

Thanks, I will look into getting that next time I try the stockings

No not taking any meds as of yet. I did try a small peice of 10mg midodrine once a few months back and it shot my bp way too high

so I'm going to break a 2.5 mg in half tomorrow and hope that it helps, I think a lot of it not working the first time was me being worried, over taking

a new medicine. I've also heard that it can lower your heart rate, and there has been a few times mine has dropped into the 30's on its own..

so that worrys me a bit as well, but im going to try it anyways.

I've notice when it gets under control I feel a lot more normal, so I really hope it helps

  12. thanks everyone.. I felt really bad today, I couldnt stay awake hardly at all, I think I'm gonna have to try the midodrine again.

I've been trying to do it with food alone but I don't think that its helping enough.

has anyone taken it with a small heart murmer? I just found out I had one not too long ago, I also took ritalin for years without a problem, so I didnt think I'd have one with this medicine

but then again when I drink high amounts of caffiene my chest hurts from it, so maybe I will bring it up/ask my doc before I take it

  13. My blood pressure has been terrible the past 6 months, and I've probably gained 30 lbs just the past 2 months because I've noticed eating helps it, but it usually

only ever helps a half hour to an hour tops.. (the only food that helps longer are lunchables and I am not sure why, the only thing they have more of is

a lot of protein 20g, ) but to feel "normal" I"d have to eat 4-6 a day, and that adds up to over 300$ a month.. lol I can't afford to keep eating like that.

Does anyone know any low fat foods? or foods that will raise it but won't cause me to gain a lot more weight?

  14. Have you tried compression hose? They've helped my BP issues more than anything else. You can always start with hose like Sheer Energy which offer compression of 10mmHg or so.

no I haven't tried the hose yet, well I did wear over the counter kind and they dont stay on, so my next step is to go and get fitted. hopefully that helps some

  15. I never feel that I am crazy or wrong. I just get to the point where I want to scream due to the inept medical care I get.

For instance, I had an endo appt. recently. I ended up seeing the NP instead of the doctor. I was trying to explain my my history, and then my worst symptom of flushing, redness and swelling. I actually started having an episode and was able to show him the hand swelling and redness, along with the blueness that they also get. He said it is most likely related to my POTS. I was sitting.

I explained that I've had POTS for many years, but this flushing was just within the last year. It is still POTS related.

And, he told me to go see my cardiologist for it. What, the one that said to drink a yogurt drink and go home????

This is the level of care I am getting right now. Go to an appt., listen to some moronic explanations, and get booted out the door, while they be sure and write down the highest fee allowable.

All of this makes me wonder what is happening to the quality of our healthcare. Doctors who don't want to doctor.

    I know what you mean!

I've been experiencing the same thing for months now.

The doctors I am seeing don't know what they are doing, so they pass me on to other doctors who play it off , or send me to other doctors who do the same thing.

    It is beyond annoying

  16. Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with probable MS and I'm told that it is effecting my atomic nervous system,

and that is why I keep getting low blood pressure. It usually runs 80/40, to 100/50 and normal ranges at times.

the lowest ive ever seen it was 48/30 (I really hope that was a mistake but I'm not sure)

I've had memory lapses with my bp dropping so low, sometimes my own house looks different to me. has anyone else ever experienced this?

I was wondering if there is anything that I could

change in my diet to help increase it?( I add extra salt to just about everything) Also I was put on midrodine a few months back, it was 10mg, but since I am sensitive to stuff I broke it up into

quaters and took it, it shot my bp way up to around 200/150 when standing. .. This time they called in a lower mg 2.5 that I am probably going to start in a few days but I'm worried its not going to affect me right.

there are times when I'm thinking of something, and almost 2 seconds later question what I was thinking/saying

I've also seen flashes of people when its too low. I'm only 28 so this is all very scary. I brought this all up to my doctor, who didnt really say anything, but I seriously think I have

brain damage, or the start of dementia from my bp. anyone who has experience with this please help!
