  1. I cannot thank you enough Dakota.God bless you! I'll call him today. If he's able to help me i'll owe you a huge favour!!!
  2. Welcome back Lissy.i feel for you as this site gave me a lot of comfort...and i recently discovered its existence.I too get lots of side effects from meds.Especially when i took Zanax and Zoloft.I stopped it without my doctor's permission and i immediately felt better. Now i take a small dose of Ladose.Again the doctor had told me to take a whole pill once a day which caused me nausea and stomach ache but when i decreased the dose to half a pill per day i felt better.I am not a doctor but from my experience it's good to listen to our instict and what our body tells us.So if you feel uncertain about a drug you can start with a smaller dose. But do discuss it with your doctor. About your questions i have noticed that when i drink water i feel better. However i need to eat salty food afterwards to increase sodium.Because i live in Greece i have found that green olives and feta cheese help me.i use it as a snack when my blood pressure drops.Sometimes i eat a piece of cucumber with salt and that helps too.Of course in very bad crises nothing works. On these days the only thing that helps is having someone to hold your hand and tell you that everything will be fine. As for the weather i think it does play a role.In extreme heat or cold i feel really sick. I have memory problems too especially in the mornings when i wake up.Sometimes i feel lost and frightened and if someone talks to me i can't answer immediately and i can't look at him face to face...it's really weird.I'm not sure if i can describe the feeling.Later during the day i'm fine.(but sometimes i do forget things i have to do-or what i wanted to say) Are you having severe symptoms at the moment?I understand it's hard to rest with two young children at home but it is absolutely necessary to be calm and relaxed.Try to find someone to help you with the housework and the children if possible.I have found that i when try to do cleaning or cooking i feel exhausted afterwards and i start having symptoms.
  3. I have three different doctors in three different hospitals in Athens-and they're supposed to be the best ones!Noone seems to know much about dysautonomia.Apparently i must be the only person in this country with Dysautonomia.... I feel really angry when they tell me to be patient and they don't even bother to research about it.I feel that they are not listening to me! My parents insist that i see a doctor abroad but i can barely travel by car at the moment-let alone travel by airplane.Has anyone got a clue how i can find a doctor who specializes in such cases?Every article i ve read stresses the importance of finding a doctor who knows about it but it seems as noone knows about it in Greece and they don't seem willing to learn either. What am i going to do? P.S.i'm sorry for nagging but i ve been feeling sick for 40 days now and there are times during the day that i feel like i can't deal with another morning or night crisis...usually i'm more optimistic
  4. My POTS symptoms get really bad before and after my period and i m worried that my body will not tolerate a pregnacy unless a miracle happens and i get cure before i become pregnant.Plus i have GERD which is supposed to get worse during the last months of pregnacy and causes breathing problems.Since i already have breathing problems i wonder how worse it can get.And then i m thinking that if what i'm going through is too much for me then how is it going to be for the baby i'll be carrying. My gynecologist told me that we'll deal with it when it happens and that i should stop worrying but i don't think he knows much about dysautonomia and he's just trying to be reassuring. I do want to have children but if that means that my health will deteriorate and that i might harm the baby i prefer to abandon the idea altogether. Thank you all for sharing your views and experiences. You give me more answers than any of my doctors here.
  5. Burping is something that i do a lot since i got Dysautonomia and it usually provokes tachycardia especially after i have eaten. However for me burping is good because if i don't, i feel that i can't breathe and i have fainting episodes.
  6. I have palpitations everytime i eat something.I also feel like i can't breath and my hands sweat if i eat a bit more than i should.I've had these symptoms for 2 years and after a test in the hospital(gastroscopy) they told me it's diaphragmatic hernia.(I also have acid reflux). What was weird about the whole case is that i have a normal weight and i never had problems with my stomach until i was 25.My doctor told me that diaphragmatic hernia appears in obese people or it is a birth defect. This was not the case with me.Have you checked you stomach?i ve noticed that many POTS patients have GERD or other similar problems.
  7. I was wondering what happens if you are pregnant when you have POTS.Do the symptoms go away and if not how do you deal with them? Before i was diagnosed with POTS i was planning to have a baby but now i don't know if this will ever be possible. Can women with POTS have a normal pregnacy and healthy babies?
  8. In one hospital they mentioned Florinef but in the other one they told me to get Zoloft.I tried Zoloft and Zanaz but they made my symptoms even worse so i stopped taking any of that.Ath the moment i m taking Nexium and Ladose.(it's a beta blocker).Ladose doesn't help me much but at least it doesn't make me worse.I ve read lots of articles and i think i ve got POTS and not NCS.I just wish the doctors would tell me all that instead of having to figure it out by myself. It's so frustrating! Next week i will do a sleep study in a hospital.Hopefully they will tell me something more then...
  9. I have been diagnosed with Dysautonomia but i don't know if it is POTS OR NCS yet.Does anyone know what kind of tests determine which one-if not both- it is?I've done a tilt test and a heart variability test but nothing else.Doctors have prescribed Zanax,Zoloft,Ladose but nothing works.Zanax actually made it worse.I wake up in the middle of the night with breathing problems, tachycardia, numbness, nausea and shivering.Sometimes my head and neck are so numb i can't feel them at all.I also have gastric influx and i take NEXIUM.Does anyone have similar symptoms? The mornings are even worse.I feel dizzy and like i cannot concentrate-along with all the other symptoms.I live in Athens,Greece and i am worried that doctors don't know much about POTS here.Do you think i should do more tests? How can i help myself?
