Sunfish
i've definitely heard of it & may be looking into it myself within the next year but am not sure if i will be approved due to intestinal motility problems as well. it's never considered the first line of treatment though and most who get it have had to go numerous meds, diet experimentations, etc. its FDA approval falls under a "humanitarian" device.i have talked to many with the pacer and know one person well. by no means is it a guarantee. for whatever reason it tends to work better for those with gastroparesis due to diabetes.i've done a lot of reading, research, & talking with others (patients and doctors) so let me know if you have other questions i might be able to answer. melissa
cardiactec
thanks melissa!yeah i was curious about the pacer myself.although i have terrible nausea, i dont have the vomiting/nutrient deficiencies/electrolye imbalances, etc so i dont think i'd be a good candidate for the pacer anyway.........although at this point i'd do ANYTHING to rid myself of the nausea!my doc mentioned the pacer idea to me. i dont really think my paresis is that bad though. i have heard of people retaining a lot more food than what my two hour study showed! i think some of my nausea has a little to do with both the paresis and positional effects from the POTS/excessive tachy........
