dizzyallie
Hi all,I am curious, I'm seeing a specialist in this in a month. The same specialist who started me on my beta blockers for pots. I just don't know what exact things I should be asking for to help with my symptoms? Besides florinef. I remember something about h1 and h2 receptors. I guess I just want a work up on dysautonomia but have no idea where to start. My main issue is dizziness. And new symptoms of burning face and ears, that turn bright red. I know it's to do with histamine but I'm not sure what I should be doing to treat it? Any advice?
Katybug
H1 and H2 antihistamines are the base line treatment for mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS). If you think you might have MCAS, it is worth discussing with a POTS specialist but I wouldn't be surprised if they referred you to a hematologist or immunologist for that. There are lots of treatments that can be tried for POTS (beta blockers, midodrine, florinef, compression stockings, mestinon.) One thing that I personally feel is important is trying to identify the root cause of my autonomic dysfunction, so I made it a point to go after that answer while my POTS neuro was also treating me symptomatically. SarahA33
Hi Allie! Can't remember if you meantion nausea as one of your symptoms or not. A medication that I was put on for the vertigo induced migraines and nausea is called Meclizine. It really has helped me so much!! I have not had many side effects from it either, my doctor said majority of her patients usually do not. Just thought I'd mention it!Be well!Sarah
