vinylowl
This is the only place where people can understand my frustrations.Every couple of months, I get this stomach issue where I can't keep food down for days. It started out with nausea, the next time it was a little vomiting here and there, the next time it was zero appetite and everything I ate would just go blergh. This latest one, I'm sicker for longer than normal and am trying a liquid diet since I only seem to tolerate Ensure and chicken broth. The issue though is with the syncope. Because I can't seem to keep hydrated, I'm fainting more frequently and it's just really ticking me off. My boyfriend is constantly asking me if I'm okay and I just nod and sigh, because I don't want to burden him with my "Oh my goodness, my brain is going to explode when I stand up again" sickness. Alright, that's better. Thank you for letter me binge vent.
Guest Hanice
Aww, What about yogurt and pudding? Mashed potatoes? What has your doc said about this issue? This IS a great place to vent all your dysautonomia **. I hope this all goes away and you can stuff your face real soon. Just dont give up. Keep trying. You will slowly be able to eat again. Today this morning I got up and I thought I was gonna passout my vision went white and that hasnt happened to me in quite some time. I feel a choking when I stand up. We all can relate. Katybug
Vinyl,If all the "normal/common" stomach issues have been ruled out, you may want to read about each of the following to see if your symptoms fit and you need to find a specialist: cyclic vomiting syndrome, abdominal migraine, and abdominal epilepsy. All of these are rare disorders, so as I said, ruling out the usual suspects first is important. I have abdominal migraine which is thankfully now controlled for the most part but it stinks to feel the way you are feeling for sure. I've been there....but, I'm also proof you can find a cause and a treatment for some of this weird stuff. Popsicles and ice chips are another option for hydrating when sick. Weird, but true, some people do OK with apples because the pectin soothes the stomach...that's hit or miss. Rice with salt or boiled potatoes with salt were a staple for me. The salt is important to help your body retain the fluids you do take in. Saltines. Pretzels. Oatmeal with cinnamon and honey or maple syrup (and a pinch of salt.) P.S. I liked the "blergh"! vinylowl
Thank you for the advice! I was getting worried about how to keep hydrated, so I will try the ice pop idea. Sounds like a good excuse to go buy ice pops to me. I'm at work now (desk job, thankfully) and it seems that I'm more likely to drink tons of water at my desk. I don't know why, but I'm already half way through a liter of water and I've only been here a half an hour.
