Do You Have Vasculities?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone been diagnosed with a form of vasculities? Vasculities is inflamed blood vessels and arteries. My son has leg tremors and has had them since January. The cardiologist thinks my son's POTS problems is immune related. These tremors seem to start after he has taken a certain medication. So I on went online and typed in leg tremors caused by an immune system disorder. Vasculities was at the top of the list. I have read about several different forms and wondering if it may be part of my son's problem. I was wondering if anyone had been diagnosed with any form of vasculities. Could you share what you know about your form of vasculities and what medications have helped you?

Last nigh I got an unexpectant call from the immunologist office. My son has an appointment to go see the immunologist today. Yea! I have the copy of the immune testing post and several questions to ask to ask her. An immunologist can also diagnose vasculities. I'll post later about the visit. Hope everyone has a symptom free day.

Hope the appt went well. I am not dx'ed with vasculitis, but I did/do have what the immunologist called violaceous vascular lesions that showed through my skin on my breasts, all the way around my thighs, and the sides of my buttocks. Most of the docs kept saying they were "stretch marks" based on my weight gain and the locations but I knew they were different. They changed colors with my symptoms and sometimes looked engorged. I took pics and kept showing different docs. I finally showed the immunologist and he looked at them under the magnifier they use to look up your nose/ears. Right away he said they were vascular. Since I have severe (and somewhat unexplained) inflammatory issues and was about to start my Xolair shots, I didn't pursue seeing a vascular specialist. So far, the only improvement I can say I see for sure from my Xolair shots is the fact that these lesions are fading significantly. The immumologist is thinking it is the first sign that this treatment is starting to reduce the inflammation in my body. I had wondered several times if I had some form of vasculitis over the years and I do wish that I had pursued it as it is a diagnosis that could have been treated with much more targeted therapies. The Xolair was the one biologic therapy my immuno could justify to the insurance company but he really tried and wanted my rheumy to put me on an anti-TNF drug because of the unexplained inflammatory process I have. I don't know if any of that helps you but I hope it does.
