abbyw
Hi,An article in today's New York Times: http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/04/09/antidepressants-can-raise-blood-pressure-during-pregnancy/?ref=healthlinks SSRIs in pregnancy to high blood pressure. Not sure how this can be related to why SSRIs help some with POTS.Abby
MomtoGiuliana
Thanks for posting this. It appears the risk is estimated to be small--raising the risk by about 1% if I read the article correctly.Since SSRIs seem to help some patients with hyper POTS, not taking an SSRI might also elevate the risk of developing high bp during pregnancy--perhaps even more than not taking it. Of course there are no studies on this at this time. But anyway, I think like with any drug, the risks and benefits of taking the drug vs not taking it during pregnancy have to be evaluated with the help of a doctor.
