bkweavers
My daughter's POTS doctor is leaving & we're trying to decide if we want to follow him or try some of the other doctors at the hospital. Dr. Thomas Chelimsky is now at Froedert. Anyone have any experience with him? I see that he has adolescent & adult patients. My daughter is almost 16 & one of the things I really liked about her other POTS doctor is he was so good with her. He was also excellent at communicating with us & emailing me.Brenda
Christy_D
We used to see both Dr Thomas Chelimsky and his wife Dr Gisela Chelimsky when they were in Cleveland. They were both great, especially loved his wife. She is the most caring doctor we have ever seen. I understand she isn't leaving Cleveland until mid May though. We communicated via email with the nurse who always got back to us quickly, of course that was the nurse in Cleveland though. The thing I liked the most was we got to see both doctors at the same time. Dr Gisela is a pediatric GI and Dr Thomas is a neurologist. The only reason we stopped seeing them was because we found a local specialist and didn't want to continue driving 9 hours to Cleveland. Our local specialist used to be a colleague of the Chelimky's in Cleveland and is also quite knowledgeable.
Clairefmartin
I have heeard great things about both - and they have published a ton of great research Best of luck!
bkweavers
Thanks to both of you! Thought I had read research from them. Still trying to decide what to do. If we follow our current doctor, it would only be a 2 and a half hour drive. Right now, we drive one hour so not that bad. We'll see. Thankfully, my daughter hasn't had to see her POTS doctor very often. Now, if I could only find a decent endocrinologist! One who will listen! Anyone got a good one in Milwaukee, Wi area?Brenda
DoozlyGirl
Brenda,Dr Beth Lalande, endo w/ Froedtert, recognized my goofy HR and BP and sent me for autonomic testing. Dr Barboi has been treating me. She admits she doesn't know much on autonomic disorders, but she was thorough. Her office is near Community Memorial Hospital, in Men. Falls. DoozlyGirl
Brenda, I had to look up where my other two endos ended up after leaving my network. I've also seen Dr Richard Wierich, who trained At Barnes Jewish in St Louis and NIH. His office is in Beloit. He was my first endo and did a thorough job ruling out the biggie endo diseases, and began treating my Hashimotos, then recognized my intolerance to synthroid and offered Levoxyl. After my autonomic dysfunction was diagnosed and it was obvious I needed to see an endo again, I tried to get into see Dr Lalande again, and she admitted she didn't know what else to do for me. I tried to get into see her partner, Dr McGill for evaluation of my swinging BP issues. He refused to see me. I then found Dr Kim Lamack, who trained at Mayo. She was really good to me and helpful in figuring out my blood sugar and BP issues. She has two offices in Mke area and is with Wheaton. Unfortunately she went on maternity leave, left AHC and moved to Mke. My care was transferred within network during her maternity. I liked both of them, and would have stayed with both, had they not left my network.I am now tracking down MCAD, and all of those endocrine workups are very helpful, cause now those endo causes have been ruled out. Good Luck finding a local endo,Lyn
jenglynn
Brenda, Good luck with your decision! I live in La Crosse WI but would easily go to Milwaukee to find a endo that will actually take me seriously. If you or anyone hears of one- please post!!!! The ones I've dealt with thus far act is if they have no idea about my thyroid and how it works with the autonomic system... It's almost as if they ALL specialize in diabetes... That's what every single one of their bios say- believe me, I'm grateful to NOT be diabetic but would be nice to at least be HEARD. Abnormal labs are abnormal labs, right? Dismissing it because I have an Autoimune Disease and that "probably" what's going on is not an answer!!!!!Jen
