casey311
So I have my appt. with Dr. Grubb on Monday. They just called me this morning to confirm. I didn't want to say anything until it was confirmed b/c last time he had to cancel. Which I totally understand. Anyone else going to be there? Lizzegrl
Casey, make sure you know which office to go to! They were going to be moving back to the old office about this time - They had moved to a temp. office while the old one was renovated. I'll be down there in early May. Good luck with your appointment!! I do suggest you write down all of the questions you want to ask and take it with you so that you don't forget anything. It takes so long to get in, you want to get the answer and ask the questions while you are there. Also, expect to wait a long time. Don't go in hungry or thirsty unless they tell you to be NPO. My last appointment ran so late, my sister actually went out to get lunch and brought it back and we ate while we waited.
mrsdavidson8605
I agree with the waiting thing. We waited 3 hours past our appointment time, but were in with Dr. Grubb for over an hour! It's worth the wait (although there are no magic cures to this).. good luck!
flop
Never having been to the USA I haven't seen Dr Grubb but I do travel to London to see a POTS specialist. Here's my advice for big appointments:Plan your journey with lots of spare time for traffic / cancelled trains etc.Ask a trusted friend or relative to come into the appointment with you (they can help you remember what the doctor says and you can discuss things afterwards).Make a list of questions (write them out on paper with big gaps between questions so that you can jot down the answers as you are given them during the appointment).Take a picnic and lots of water.Don't expect to find "the answer" - it is easy to pin all your hopes on one appointment and end up bitterly dissappointed. Instead go with an open mind to learn as much as you can to help you manage your symptoms.Ask the specialist to write to your local doctor so that you can follow up with them between appointments to the specialist.Good luck!Flop
