Research Study Patient

i was wondering if anybody had been to vanderbilt as a research study patient and if they had was it a good idea to go and did the study help you get better with your symptoms.

i did this as have several other forum members. i've posted to you previously mentioning my experiences as a research patient at vanderbilt. here's what i wrote to you in the earlier post:

"for my experience as a research patient several years ago do a search for "vanderbilt chronicles". i wrote a good amount about what it was like to be a patient there. some details of the specific tests might change as the research protocols are different at different times but it will still give you some relevant info. if you have trouble finding it, or other info on vandy that others have posted via a search on "vanderbilt" or "vandy" let us know. for some basic help on searching check out "helpful hints for forum participation" at the top of the forum. overall i was glad that i went & had a good experience while there. that does NOT mean that vandy has/ had answers/ solutions to everything so if your expectations are too high you may set yourself up for disappointment. while i have heard people who have had more negative experiences at vanderbilt for the most part over the years i have heard positive things from others who have gone as research patients (&/or as outpatients for that matter).

melissa what was the cost of the place you and your mom stayed at when you got out of vanderbilt and do they at vanderbilt allow parents to stay in the room with you.

I was there for 4 days - they brought in a cot for my husband to sleep on and also brought him a meal tray when they brought mine.

Awww! Your husband got to stay with you, that is so nice. They sound like a really nice organization (I don't know much about them). I'm glad to hear there are researchers out there that are working for us.

Yes, my room was in an older part of the building, but there was a bathroom with a shower, and a mini fridge so it cost us nothing for him. Just transportation costs to get there and back. They did release me late in the afternoon so we found a room in town to stay that night.
