Kelly
hi everyone, i just wondered if anyone is having the same problem as me. i first got ill in november 2007 and was diagnosed with POTs in march, and since november, because of my drop in bp and raise of heartrate when i stand, i could stand or walk at all without collapsing. therefore since november i have been in a wheelchair, just so that i could get of the house. i am now taking midodrine but still feel too unsteady on my feet, im alright to walk a little way but if i get hot or walk too much my legs feel like jelly and my heart starts to race. . . . . which then kicks off all of the symptoms, making me feel really bad and have to sit back down, this then puts me back and im ill for days afterewards. i think its just because im so nervous and have lost confidence in myself being able to walk. Does this mean i will always have to go in a wheelchair when i go out? do any of you have to go in wheelchairs because of POTs?hope you are all doing ok, lotsa luvkellz xx
lil_kt
I have a wheelchair because of my POTS, if i try to walk or stand for to long i just end up collapsing or start getting symptoms like the fast heart rate, dizziness, nausea & also i feel completely off balance ( ike i'm drunk) & it knocks me about for days after.I don't know if it improves with medication cause i'm currently not on any apart from my salt & water till i see the specialist. I hope you do start to see an improvement soon.luv kt xx
MomtoGiuliana
Most people with POTS improve with treatment and time. I was wheelchair bound in 2003 and today live a nearly normal life with only minor symptoms. Hope you start to see improvement soon.
hollie
Had POTS for years - dx finally in Feb. I'm lucky enough not to have to be wheelchair bound. I do know more than one dr. has told me the more do phisical activity (even just walking), the better my body will handle the "little" things. For instance, when I was pregnant, I had difficulties and had to be on bed rest off and on for three months thru two pregnancies. After not getting up out of bed, walking around, going to work... I did get more tired, faster HR, etc. much quicker and more often. I now try to walk every day, even if it's only down to the end of my block and back. I have noticed improvement already.Hollie
