  1. I haven't heard IVF being done under general anesthesia. Are you going in for implantation of the embryos on Tuesday? If so, then I am assuming you have tolerated the many drugs used before the actual IVF well. With POTS, tolerating all these drugs would be of primary concern. My friend could not tolerate the injections, and she is healthy! Good luck, and please, keep us posted on your progress - this is "an uncharted territory" for POTS patients as there is absolutely no literature on the topic that one can refer to.

Well, I am an American living in Jordan....which is how we can even afford IVF and they do the general anesthesia, at least that's what they call it. So I'm not sure. I go on Tuesday for the taking of the follicles and Thursday or Friday for the implantation. Well interestingly enough, my body didn't respond to any other fertility drugs except the FSH injections, a double dose of Gonal-F....which then produced way too many follicles. I have tolerated things ok, just lots of nausea...but I think that's normal? No fainting or dizziness through this all, so I was thankful! I will keep you all posted on what happens with this.

  2. I have no idea, but I just wanted to wish you good luck! You might try searching the archive posts (click on the "search" button in the upper righthand corner of the screen) and see if anyone has mentioned it before.

My husband and I are not in the market for any children, but I think that if we were, I probably would have fertility problems also, due to polycystic ovaries. I am convinced that this, too, is probably because of dysautonomia. My body just doesn't regulate itself properly, including in the reproductive department!

Anyway, I hope you find the answers you seek! And be sure to let your anesthesiologist know about the POTS.

Hey thanks so much! I have polycystic ovaries as well, which is why we had so many problems. I never thought it could be related to the POTS, but makes sense. After tons of other fertility drugs, my body still never did what it was supposed to. My second try with FSH injections produced about 8 follicles....my doctor was shocked! He doesn't know much about POTS except from me. Thanks for the advice!

  3. I am a 28 year old female that was diagnosed with POTS about 5 years ago. We have had fertility issues and so on Tuesday we will be having IVF. I was wondering if anyone else with POTS has gone through IVF? I am mainly a bit concerned about being under the general anesthesia. Any info would be great!
