  1. Yeah, I still am feeling nervous about it. How can they test you to see if you had a stroke.
  2. Hope you are feeling better! Its so hard to stay away from colds and what not during the winter. I got the flu babysitting in January which landed me in the hospital.
  3. Thank you everyone for commenting on this! Its always more scary the first time you experience symptoms like this. I did call my heart doctor and they werent too concerned about it because it went away and my blood pressure has been fine ever since. Im hoping it never happens again lol
  4. So, I was at an elementary school yesterday all day and in the afternoon I was sitting at a table when my one eye got all blurry. I thought maybe I got something in it so I blinked a few times but it continued. Then my other eye got fuzzy and I started to feel hot and dizzy like I was going to pass out. I put my head down between my legs for like 10 mins but it just kept on going so I headed to the nurse. She took my stats and my heart rate wasnt high but my bp was 160/100, so she had me lay down for 15 mins. And then my symptoms went away and my bp went to 118/80. I felt tired and had a mild headache afterwards. Has anyone had an episode like this? I've never had my vision change before so im kind of worried.
  5. Well, he said its possible but thinks a low dose wouldn't be the culprit. I of course came back with the statement that if a low dose of beta blocker helps me feel better and I can tell when I havent taken it in the morning, that its probably enough to mess with my sugars. I told him I am super sensitive to meds. He thinks that the Zoloft is more of the culprit, and is causing my heart issues. I've been on it since I was 15 for anxiety, and he wants to wean me off to see if I feel better.
  6. Your liver functions to store glucose for later use. Glucose is a major carbohydrate present in the diet. It occurs in foods such as grains and potatoes, and also in fruits, beans and nuts. Between meals, your body breaks down the liver's stored glucose for use as fuel. Beta-blockers can inhibit this breakdown and cause blood sugar levels to fall. Because atenolol is more selective for the heart, however, blood sugar levels are usually steady in otherwise healthy patients taking this medication, but special circumstances exist. 7. Badhbt, good luck on your jorney! I am playing around with mine as well. Today we tried paleo almond bread. So far so good!!
  8. I dont take Celexa but I do take Zoloft and Propranolol. I was just told by my primary doctor that beta blockers make your sugar low so I'm going to see about changing things around tomorrow at my heart doctor. You know how it is having dysautonomia, you gotta be your biggest advocate and go into the appt well prepared:-)
  9. So after a talk with my primary physcian, i was made aware that beta blockers can cause low blood sugar because they block the bodies ability to correct dropping blood sugar without food. Has any heard of this? I head to the cardiologist tomorrow so I'm going to try switching to a calcium channel blocker or something else.
  10. So the past few weeks I've been super reactive to food. Seems like I can't eat much of anything without crashing. Tonight I had beef, broccoli, and oatmeal which I do good on and 1 hr after I was at 69. Anyone have similar problems? What helps you? I also get low from taking showers. So odd!
  11. Anyone get a headache or excess saliva while taking this? Seems to be happening to me at the moment since I tried it for the first time?
  12. I dont have any suggestions for you but im in the exact same boat! All of a sudden Im having all these reactions. Do you have reactive hypoglycemia?
  13. Thanks for your input. I was thinking about doing the 60mg twice a day. I didnt see it at the store but I saw the allegra for kids melt aways which would be 30 mg. do you think I should try this first?
  14. So my doctor wants me to start Allegra, 24 hour kind. It's 180 mg. Anyone have experience taking this to calm your histamines down?
  15. So for the past two years I was doing so good. And then a few months ago I started this downward spiral & everything is out of control. I've spent the past three weeks going to the er and to every specialist. Labs come back okay so far. But I get sicker every day. Everything I eat makes my blood sugar drop. Unless its a snack like ww crackers and cheese. I'm getting stomache pain and diarrhea off and on, common after I eat. My blood pressure and heart rate are elivated, and im getting tachy and palps alot. I've started this flushing thing where my face gets red, my ears burn and get bright red. I feel like I could jump out my skin. I've had a few rashes and hives, and a few pots storms where i get super high bp and hr and have trouble breathing. I saw a new dr yesterday and she thinks its my histamines and wants me to try Allegra. Of course I'm scared to take anything since my body is so crazy right now. Can anyone relate? Anything help you when you're like this. Im trying not to work myself up, but im so scared right now. :-(
  16. Hey guys! Just curious if anyone has experience with this medication for the treatment of a UTI. I've never taken it before so I like to get a feel what to expect from those with similar drug sensitivity. I do have POTS and take midodrine, propranolol, Zoloft, and Prilosec. Thanks for your input!
  17. So this spring seems to be the worst yet. After having 2 bad cases of bronchitis this year, I've found myself wheezing and coughing along with my usual allergy symptoms. They've gotten so bad this year that it looks like I'm going to have to take something. My doctor has prescribed me Zyrtec and Flonase. Like many of you, I like to know wwhat I'm getting myself into before I take them, even if everyone is different. You guys are alot more like me than the rest of the world lol I am also taking midodrine, zoloft, propranolol, xopenex (inhaler) at the moment. Thanks for your input and I wish everyone else the best who is dealing with allergies.. Darn Pollen lol
  18. Your post brought tears to my eyes. My biggest fear right now is having to be this sick for the rest of my life. It seems so unfair and the uncertainy of everything seems too much at times. I too feel like Im not truly living, like Im on an unwanted break from life and every year passes and Im still stuck in the same unrelenting rut. I have realized personally that I feel better especially mentally, having people in my life to talk to and to help lift my spirits when things get rough. We all need to have someone we can rely on and trust will be there for us. I actually started seeing a therapist last year, and while I was completely against it at first, it ended up being one of the best things I couls have done for myself. My therapist has done so much for me from giving me ideas and ways to deal with my emotions, to just simply being there to listen and a shoulder to cry on. I really hope things start to get better for you and that you can find some support. No one should have to face this alone. Im praying for you!:-)
  19. Your welcome!! I think a big part of managing our fears is knowing that we are not alone in this fight. That there are tons of other people going through the same exact thing and are suppporting us in our fight. I cant completely understand having pots is hard. We get ridiculed because its not something visible and most of our symptoms at this point are still unexplainable, people do not understand or even believe things they cannot see. And I completely understand, for me finding a pt job where Im sitting most the time and not in the heat was difficult and I know Im lucky to still have this position from missing alot of work. Ill be thinking about ya on your first day and pray things go well!!:-)
  20. So its been a week since Ive been off of the florinef and while my spikes have definately come down my blood pressure, heart rate, and blood sugar levels are all over the place. Now when I stand, my bp is dropping and my hr picks up. I tried walking around the grocery store for ten minutes and almost passed out. I got really hot, sweaty, dizzy and my heart was racing. Before going off the florinef I was fine walking around the store. Now when I get up, I get out of breath almost immediately. Ive also noticed that my blood sugar levels keep dropping and no matter what I eat, within an hour they are right back down. The only good thing not being on the florinef is that my resting heart rate has been lower. Ahh, Im not sure how to fix this. Im low without florinef and high on florinef and I was only taking 1/4-1/2 tab 1x a day. Maybe increase the midodrine? And why is my blood sugar actinf up in response to all this? I dont have a good pots doc at the moment, so any insight from all of you would be helpful when I talk to my cardiologist. Im gonna try and get an appt this week cause theres no way I can wait till next week. Im on the verge of losing my job bc Im missing so much work. Thanks everyone!!!
  21. I too have been told I have cfs and pots but we cant really figure out which came first. Many of the symptoms overlap and I too have wondered if they arent the same thing. Ive had mono before as a child and Im wondering if I should try getting checked for the Epstein Barr Virus. I have a weakened immune system and whenever I catch something, its always sooo much more severe and lasts forever. Its definately not a fun time. Do you get checked for EBV by your primary physician or a specialist?
  22. I too have severe anxiety about starting new meds and discontinuing the ones Im on. Ive worried myself up so much before that Ive had panic attacks. I was on florinef for five years and it did help alot! Just watch your bp because after while it can begin to raise it too high. But you wont know if it will help you or not until you try! Best of luck :-)
  23. I know the feeling, I remember going back to work after being home for almost a year. I was so nervous and worried but once I made it through the first day I realized hey this is something that I can do. I still have trouble when I have a flare but overall working helps me get my mind off things and makes me feel productive. Just remember to pace yourself and not be to hard on yourself. Im sure youll do great and its always worth a shot. Best of luck!!!:-)
  24. Hello Everyone! I hope everyone is having a non potsy day I've been reading alot about MCAD which is new to me and am still not really understanding it? Im also confused as to how the florinef helps? How do you know if you have MCAD? Last week my doc took me off the florinef, and while my spikes havent been nearly as high Im having ALOT of fluctuation with my bp and hr. It goes up and down and up and down, like it doesnt know what its doing. Im wondering if thr florinef helped with this. I did notice that my resting hr is ALOT lower now that Im off the florinef, which is nice and Im hoping that I might be able to cut back my beta blocker now. :-) Just wondering if anyone else had this when they came off the florinef? Ohh and one more ? What are good ways to get extra salt? Ive got hypoglycemia so I cant drink the gatoraide drinks, and the fake sugar does the same thing to my bs.
  25. Ive noticed with this pots flare that my blood sugar levels are dropping on a more frequent basis. Ive had reactive hypoglycemia since I was 10 and have completely cut sugar out. What are some things that you eat that help stabilize your sugars and keep it from getting too low??
