  1. I had dental surgery almost 6 weeks ago. I was so stressed for days before the event I couldn't sleep or rest. I made it through the surgery ok with only a headache, sore jaw, & mouth afterwards. My mouth is healed. Six weeks later I'm beginning to have a little more energy but still not my usual self. Could all that stress/trauma to the body cause someone to take this long to feel better? I do have adrenal problems & Hashimoto's thyroid. Thanks.
  2. Is there a way we can delete all our posts? Just curious. thanks.
  3. I know we are usually looking for physicians but I would like to find a dentist I could trust. Going to the dentist is one of the most difficult things I have to do. Anyone know of a listing by city/state for dentist? I found a dentist on the internet in a nearby city that I've used once but somehow I don't trust them. I like them but don't trust them. I've always kept my checkup up to date. I knew I had one tooth that needed a crown but according to this dentist x-rays I have 6 teeth that either have a cavity or need a crown. Most dentist in my area still practice ancient dentistry. thanks.
  4. Sarah, Thanks for info. I have partial seizures & that really complicates things when I need med's for symptoms other than seizures. I don't do well with medications. Good luck to you!
  5. I've posted on this subject before but every time I have an episode I run here for support. I still don't understand what causes it. I woke up, went to bathroom, by the time I got back to bed I was cold & shaking, teeth chattering, couldn't control myself. I reached for part of an Ativan which is usually enough to calm me down but that didn't slow it. I took another half Ativan & finally started getting warm & it slow & finally stopped. Is it anxiety? I have been obsessing about a dental appointment I have that I dread & wonder how I will ever get through it with any dignity. I've taken Ativan now I don't know if I'll be able to handle my seizure med without being too sedated. I don't like to take the 2 drugs at same time. Thanks for listening.
  6. No flu shot for me. The last time I took it I had bad reaction. I couldn't turn over in the bed, was so weak & was lethargic for weeks after, feared I was going to be paralyzed. I've never been the same since.
  7. Thanks for suggestions. I live in a small town & it is impossible to find a physician that understands all the health problems I've accumulated in 70 yrs. It's another hopeless situation. After getting quote on what a dental crowns cost I can't afford it anyway.
  8. I have multiple chemical sensitivy & doc thinks mast cell disorder. I also have seizures which keeps me from taking the meds I need for MCD such as antihistamines. I find it impossible to find a dentist that understands this. They kind of get dysautonomia or the POTS definition of it. They always want to use chemicals on my teeth to clean & whiten. I try to tell them I can't tolerate chemicals but I feel they don't believe me or listen. I'm in my 70's & the stress of all this is taking a toll on my nerves. I do need 2 or 3 crowns but I don't know how I can get through it, but I know I have to. The best dentist I've found is 3 hr drive round trip. Sorry to whine but it's just getting to be too much. Have any of you had good luck in finding a dentist that you trust?
  9. Thank you all very much! Now if I could get tubing that didn't smell like perfume. Tubing is in plastic but obviously the people never wash their hands.
  10. Does anyone use oxygen? I feel so dumb asking this but I've not been able to find any info on www. How to remove the nasal cannula from the tubing to replace it, or must I replace all the tubing? It looks as if it would simply detach from the tubing but I've not been able to remove it. Thanks.
  11. I have what I thought was Chostochondritis sp?. Mine is a stabbing pain in my rib cage through to my back. At first I thought it was a heart attack because it is so painful it takes my breath. Now I'm now sure what it is. When it's in my right chest I also think it might be gallbladder which is also painful.
  12. Normally my temp range in the 96's. When I get an infection temp goes to 101's. I usually start fainting/syncope when I stand up when my temp goes up. That's my experience with temperature fluctuations. Not sure about complications with the flu.
  13. Thanks you for advice. I tried eating one bite every few minutes instead of all at once & that has helped.
  14. I have a family member that has suffered with gastroparesis for years. The only thing that helped her was juicing. She was very careful of the foods she used at first, no cabbage for one. She also found ginger tea throughout the day helped some. The meds she tried did not help. I have pureed my veggies for a long time because of colon issues. It's easy if you use a food machine. Good luck!
  15. I have vasovagal syncope & fainting is not new to me but the cause is different. For several mornings I been drinking prune juice or eating prunes as a natural laxative on empty stomach. I've also had a tsp of olive oil in applesauce to cause same reaction. I've done this before & it never caused a problem that I was aware of. Could these foods be causing blood to pool in my colon? Have you ever had this happen? Thanks.
  16. Do any of you use oxygen? Has it helped you? Do you need a prescription to get your own oxygen tank refilled? I am told locally that even although I have my own tank I need a prescription. I have been having more blackout/fainting lately & thought I would try oxygen to see if it helped. thanks.
  17. I get drenched in perspiration & pass (vasovagal syncope) from stomach/colon pain. When I was younger I bounced back in a few minutes, now it takes hours for me to recover from an episode.
  18. Thanks for all the replies & help.
  19. So far my husband & I have needed a referral to neurologist, orthopedic, & dermatologist. I really don't understand why except the specialist has required it. Thanks for your help.
  20. This is off topic but there's not much traffic on the other forums. Hope someone can help. Approx 5 years ago I pulled my lower abdominal muscles/ligaments helping lift a heavy object. I've mentioned this to my Internist every time I've had an appointment with him for the last 5 years. He will press on my abdomen & basically dismiss it as nothing. I've asked for ultrasound or some test that might show what my injury is & he says testing does not show these type injuries. I'm to the point that even the slightest movement starts the pain & lifting anything is out of the question. I'm on Medicare & must be referred to a specialist which my Internist doesn't do unless I ask him. What kind of physician do you think I should see for a diagnosis? It's not an orthopedic problem. I would at least like to know what I'm dealing with. Thanks for your help.
  21. It takes me at least a week (if ever) to get over what you described. Any kind of social gatherings is exhausting for me. I get what little energy I have from protein. Hope you're better soon.
  22. Thanks for reply. I will read interview again.
  23. I have been allergic to the world for many years & going to a hospital is just about the most dangerous thing I could do. I have sat in the hospital parking lot struggling to breathe because I knew if I went inside I would never come out. The main problem I saw was all the medications she was on. Most of us can't take any med's of any kind even those we need to treat other health issues. They're chemicals & what we react to the most. I was also wondering how she can possibly live in a new house. The wood in it alone is enough to cause breathing problems. Hopefully they addressed that issue. I missed some of the interview. I wish her the best I know she has a miserable life.
