  1. I take Elavil (Amitriptyline) and it helps somewhat....it takes quite a while for me to fall asleep but I usually wake up feeling pretty okay. I know that Elavil can make Dysautonomics feel worse but so far it's been good to me.
  2. Hi Nina, I'm so very sorry to hear about your kitty. My family and I have been there quite a few times before and it's always heart wrenching. Have you ever heard of the Rainbow Bridge? If you have not, I suggest looking it up on the internet...it's a great poem for pet lovers to have after losing their best friend. (((HUGS)))) ~Gwen
  3. I got my first flu shot ever last year. I forget when I exactly got it but I'll be getting it again this year...probably in a few months or so.
  4. Try elevating your legs above your heart if you can....put something hot on your chest like muscle rub, a heating pad...just make sure you don't burn yourself because that's the last thing you'd want!
  5. I wondered if you'd like it or not. My grandma made some thinking since it was in the mint family that it would taste like mint tea....it was horrible! (((HUGS))))
  6. That's so wonderful! Too bad I'm not closer to where you'll be!
  7. Sue, your daughter will be in my prayers!
  8. I've had symptoms for as long as I can remember. I was diagnosed though two summers ago because in 2004 is when the symptoms got too out of hand.
  9. I'm so sorry that happened to you Lauren! Unfortunally it does happen, some people are just so inconsiderate of others .
  10. I'm in the same boat as you right now. My GI doc wants me to start taking Zofran, well, that's $1600 a month! We have no money for that so the next thing for us to do is to make an appeal to our insurance company. It's ridiculous, meanwhile, I'm feeling nausous and have found absolutely nothing that helps it!
  11. YES! I actually had a craving VERY early this morning!!!
  12. Some things that help me when I have chest tightness are to elevate my legs. Sometimes I have to elevate a lot - even to the point that they are straight up in the air but hey, it helps! Also, something like Bengay helps when I'm desperate and it just will not go away no matter what I try. The heating pad also helps, but if you use the heating pad DO NOT use it if you have already put Bengay on because it will burn you.
  13. Hi Bri, I get chest tightness as well. When I mentioned this to my POTS doctor he told me that it is probably because of my having EDS. I'm not sure if that helps you any but I'm sure others here will have a better answer then myself.
  14. It hasn't happened again since Saturday so in that perspective I'm feeling better lol!
  15. On Monday night, Animal Planet began their tribute to Steve and they showed an interview with Steve, Terri, Steve's Dad, and their Producer, John Stainton, regarding the incident two years ago with Baby Bob. They said which I believe is right on, that when a newborn baby comes home, one of the first things you want to see is how your dog reacts to this new baby that you have brought into your home. How also a developing baby in the mothers womb can hear you, what is going on outside of it's temporary home so when it is born do you stop doing the things that it heard in utero??? They also added (which this is always the case...not just for the baby Bob thing) that they had other zoo employees inside the crocodile exhibit, they had zoo employees outside of the exhibit keeping a "higher" lookout. What happened was that just one videographer was at a bad angle of where Steve was holding Bob. Steve has done so much for the enviroment. He will truely be missed by many! Austrailia is really considering naming a national park after him and also might name him Austrailing of the Year.............I REALLY like the national park thing, because I know he would be thrilled to have a park named after him for everything that he has done for all of the critters!
  16. I don't get migranes. I just get headaches but they can get really bad....I have had a headache just about every day this week, but not one today. I'm glad that it doesn't seem to be something serious!
  17. I was in my mom's bed trying to take a little rest while she was on the telephone. All of a sudden my heart started to get this vibrating feeling, the feeling grew and went down the rest of my body into my feet and toes. It lasted thirty seconds...at least that I know of. I think I actually passed out because I tried opening my eyes and I couldn't make them open, when I did it was all black. When I was trying to open my eyes, it was sparkly, like a strobe light in slow motion or even a disco light you could say. When all of this was stuff was over, I wanted to speak....I tried opening my mouth and finally got it to open but when I went to talk, nothing came out. I couldn't breathe. It felt like there was a brick wall in my entire airway. It was SO hard to breathe. I closed my mouth, gave it a little break and tried again to talk, nothing. It was so scary. I'm not sure what happened, what to even call it. Have any of you ever had this? What is it ? I'm okay now, I think so at least. It's just kinda hard to think now.
  18. Very well written! I would be ever so willing to do this also!
  19. What I recently began doing also is adding salt to Crystal Light drinks. We buy it with no sugar/caffiene. I can not taste the salt that is added which is always nice!
  20. I drink a lot also and haven't noticed any weird things that it does to me lol. It has salt in and eletrolytes (sp?) so that's why they tell us to drink it.
  21. I've woken up a few times before feeling like I do after I pass out.
