  1. Carmen, Thanks so much for the the kind words. My doc did tell me that it would not be a permanent type of medication. I did express to her my concerns for taking this medicine. I feel like it may be a while taking it because of the fact that my mom's problems will be with her for the rest of her life. But hey if this is what it takes I guess will take it. I bet it was hard for you to take this type of medication as well. It has to be difficult for you as well with all you have going on in your life and your professional career too. thanks again Patty
  2. Hi Dennis, I too freeze. I have to chuckle because I am currently sitting in my office with the little electric heater going full blast under my desk. The rest of the office staff have the AC on Full blast, gets so cold for me. Most people think I'm nuts but just can't get warm. Then sometimes overheated in a hurry but almost always the other way around. I have heard that taking cayenne can help but not sure have not tried it yet... Your popsicle friend. Patty
  3. Congrats are in order for sure. What a wonderful feeling you must be having right now. A's are definately in order. GREAT JOB NINA Patty
  4. Hi all, Just wondered if any of you are taking Lexapro. I have been taking now for 6 weeks now and was fine for quite a while but now seems as though I have started having a lot of nausea? I'm wondering what type of side effects any of you may have had. I also had a question if most all of you are taking a anti-depressant/anti-anxiety type of medication. My doc who says I have POTS seemed to think my last real bad spell had to do with anxiety. Which in reading some of the posts here seems to be a misconception with most doctors. Life for me like most of you can be extremely stressful. I work full time and have a very sick mom who I also try to care for. She still lives at home with her husband and is now in a wheelchair. Things have not been the best. It is such a long story. I have always been the strong type, oldest of the family and always carried all the responsibility from helping mom raise my siblings to now helping care for her. Sorry I have lost where I was going....rambling again. Anyway I really felt like I was letting myself down for having to take something like lexapro. I have such a hard time with being medication dependant. It seems as though my siblings are and I just figured I have to be the stronger one. So I have guilt. I feel as though I'm just giving in a bit. Does this make sense to anyone? Any of your thoughts on this scattered POTS Patty brain will be glady appreciated. thanks a bunch Patty
  5. Sue, Thanks for the update. I have been wondering how things were going for your family. I am so happy the children are ok. I hope your niece has a speedy recovery. Patty
  6. Hi Dayna, I have had the same problem for 4 years now just trying to figure out what triggers my bad days. I will say that it seems some months right before I start my period that I tend to have bad days but then some months not. Because I am older I sometimes wonder if I am going through premenopausal problems. It is so hard to try and plan activites anymore and wonder if it will be a good day and can I pull this off or not. I think it is a good idea that you are doing a journal. I think maybe I should start one as well. I don't know how you young mommies do it. I admire you all. I was lucky enough to not get this dang stuff until I was 40. Its just like someone turns a light switch and life changes in a heart beat. You are ALL an inspiration to me. Some of you are going back to school, raising young children, moderating this great site and supporting and staying as positive as you are. Thanks so much Patty
  7. HI Hey thanks nina for the information.....I was just kind of going on how great my daughter was feeling. Looks like they have had a bunch of complaints...thanks again for the info Patty
  8. Hi Well I have just recently started taking a pill called Avilmil. My daughter has been taking this for 3 months and she has been feeling great. I am in my 40 somethings and can't seem to regulate my temp anymore not sure if its POTS or just age thing. But I can tell you in taking these little purple pills for 5days now I am dead to the world at nite and in fact my alarm clock has to wake me up...I have always got out of bed before it ever rings. Here is the website for this...I guess it could be worth a try. Has anybody eles ever tried this medication? Patty http://www.avlimil.com/
  9. Morgan I forgot I am new to this POTS NMH thing can you tell me what an ablation is? Patty
  10. Morgan, Man it sounds like you may have recieved better care at a Veterninary Clinic. (Especially my Vet LOL) I definately would write a letter to the administrator of the hospital and have the charges reduced on all the care they did not provide you. What I think some of the medical professionals and I say that loosely is that they have no idea how terrifying an eposide can be. I have often wondered when I am so bad if I will ever be somewhat normal again. I like you sometimes wonder oh man is this it TIA or stroke. I hope you get feeling better soon. Patty
  11. Hi Chrissy, I can sympathize with you completely. I went to Vegas in April. By the last day both of my ankles had swollen up into my knees. It was horrible pain. I started noticing swelling when I first arrived but each day kept getting worse. I would go back to my room and put a chair up on the bed and put my feet up and cold wash cloths to try and reduce the swelling. One of my friends gave me an over the counter water pill which did not do much at all. Well by the time I got home I looked looked like the stay-puff marshmellow girl. I then started having problems breathing and thought maybe I just was catching a cold. I went to the emergicare clinic here in my town to get checked out. The doc said he thought I was having Pulmonary Embolizm...scared me to death...well anyway he gave me some heavy duty water pills, and some blood tests one of which was a (D-Dimer???not sure of spelling) to make sure no blood clots in lungs. turned out ok . Now things seem to be fine. don't swell up to much. Has anybody noticed problems with flying and swelling? I live in a higher elevation around 6500'. hopefully your swelling has gone down and you can walk around comfortably... sorry for my rambling on. Patty
  12. Sue, I'm so very sorry to hear of your family's tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Patty
  13. Hi Mary, I'm so very sorry to hear about all the bad times for you and your family. I am in similar situation and some days are so hard. I hope that all turns out well for your family and I know its so hard on your health as well... My thoughts and prayers are with you. Patty
  14. Hello to everyone. Well before January of this year I had never heard of POTS, but believe me after 4 years I was actually delighted to hear I actually had something with a name wrong with me other than your possibly CRAZY . I hope this post comes across ok...somedays I'm walking around in a fog. I have been reading a bunch of the posts and it totally amazes me that all the symptoms that I have been having all these years are actually what you all talk about. I was lucky enough to find an Internal Medicine Doctor who has helped me. I take Flourinef & Toprol and it seems to help. I have a supportive hubby who trys to stay postive when I am down flat sometimes for days. I have been reading him lots of the posts and doctor information and I think it is helping as well as my children. I have 3 kids who are all grown now so I depend on him more than ever. I just wanted to say hello and thanks for all the information that you post on this site. It has really helped me. Patty
