  1. @MaineDougHappy to hear you are in recovery mode. Haha i get the fluid battle with Hospital staff been here before. Good to hear they are accommodating your needs. I don't have POTS so my fluid/sodium needs are a bit different but i get the diabetic thirst after surgical procedures so i have to battle the i need more water with the nurses that are told to manage the fluid in and out of me to keep any eye on kidney functions? not sure but it is a protocol. Lol when they do give in to giving me more fluids i have to ask for two pee bottles because the diabetic peeing kicks in Hahaha. Rest up! and heal. Life is about to become one step better.
  2. Oddly enough my after meal palpitations have stopped since i started taking a mealtime fast acting insulin. i can even tolerate consistent 30g of carbs at each meal.
  3. I went thru a battery GI testing over the last few months or so. i was treated for suspected SIBO as i was having numerous GI symptoms. the treatment did help with most of the bloating. We also discovered Barrett's esophagus that was inflamed so i am taking a PPI med. The Doc also had me stop drinking milk. so far so good and the bloating has stopped. I know what i experienced was not postrial related.
  4. Best wishes for a good surgery @MaineDoug....keep your dog walks goal in mind.
  5. No i have not asked for a consultation with a dietitian. i did see one for my diabetes at the local hospital, she was a very dismissive type person that would probably just step over you while having a heart attack at the clinic. Doc will be bring up food at my next visit. i will see where that goes when we talk.
  6. Exercise and weight loss will help with insulin resistance. Diet is a bit of a balance with most folks. Best i can tell you is to eat your leafy veggies and proteins first then the starchy veggies and carbs after makes a difference in the blood glucose spikes. watch the morning pure carb meals. these are the toughest on the body.
  7. I can tell you that hitting a bone will be smarts for awhile. lateral side of the palms look safe. coul try on a low setting and work your way up. Good luck if you try it.
  8. Hey @bumpkinhope some of this gives you some ideas. Yeah fingers sometimes can be finicky to get some blood out of them. some folks stick their palms and seem to do better with it. Good news on the CGM front is there will be a sensor that will be sold over the counter (no script needed). should be available by mid summer. Instant Pot has been a great addition to my kitchen and meal prep i use it all the time. Just love it! I get the ADHD moments i have done the same and forgot stuff that was cooking. Good luck if you get a instant pot!
  9. Thanks for sharing this Doug very good material. The site did mention that chronic pancreatitis can cause Type 3C diabetes which is what i think i have and my Endo eluded to. I am going to work with my PCP to help answer the question for sure. Have you been tested for diabetes? just curious.
  10. Be selfish it's your life that matters. Med has been good so far no side effects. GI did find some bleeding down by the esophagus and stomach junction. Makes sense to me now where where some of my issues are coming from. Sure this might be why my A1c's are lower than expected base on other numbers. guess we will find out with next month A1c test.
  11. Glad to hear the test showed good news! Now get that hip fixed so you can exercise off some of the fatty organ buildup.
  12. Wish you the best with your hip replacement. should make one thing in your life easier.
  13. well update doc came back with a diagnosis of Barrett's esophagus. sure there is more to come.
  14. Hope your test goes well. I am glad i had the ESOPHAGOGASTRODUODENOSCOPY WITH BIOPSY and COLONOSCOPY it did find notable issues. @Pistoli think you called Diverticulosis at one point. Procedure results: Z line deviation 2 cm 2 cm hiatal hernia Non erosive esophagitis Gastritis Diverticulosis Ascending colon polyp
  15. Haha yeah some foods hit out of the blue. I ate a couple of diabetic friendly brownie fiber bars total mistake. plugged me up for a week.
  16. every few months or more i would say. they tend to happen in succession a few days in a row then i am good for a while.
  17. @MaineDougpain can be bad during a episode (attack) thankfully they don't happen very often. no i am not taking Creon or some other PERT. i do watch my diet so less meat and fat for now. Glad to hear that Creon is working for you. sucks when sleep gets disrupted. before i was put on Ranolazine i had issues sleeping on my left side but, now that has cleared up. Cost of meds sometimes hard to swallow. this last year med costs for me were about $10,000. Glad insurance picked up the cost.
  18. Sorry Doug didn't mean to kill you off Lol....sure your hip replacement over time will really help. Can't stress enough how important exercise is and staying active is. I had some bad hip pain for a couple of years so i slacked on exercising and it was notable as to how i felt. so i jump on the treadmill every morning before breakfast (can't say i like it but i do it). Pulling for you and hope the surgery goes well.
  19. Yes i will be NPO before the procedure and only a sip of water to take meds the day of. prep is taken in two doses 12pm and 6pm and a bathroom is required. procedure is full anesthesia but may change once i talk to the anesthesiologist. Day before i will be on a liquid diet so stuff like broth coffee tea jello or popsicles are allowed. what i do for a NPO procedure is to drink a ton of water the day before. helps more than one would think. last procedure i had i only sucked down a half of a IV bag. normally i will drink down the whole bag.
  20. @MaineDougwhat colon prep is your doc having you take? i was told to buy a store brand that starts with a M and ends with a X
  21. going back on my changes first was to get my meds worked out so meaning removing offending meds and then getting the new med doses right for me (in the past i was always overmedicated to a fault). next i figured out that i am sensitive to histamine (allergies, colds etc...) and would vasodilate me and cause presync for me so i take antihistamine when this happens and so far works for me. Yes then i suspected food was a huge stressor for me but went down quite a few rabbit holes till we figured out that i have atypical diabetes so having good control of my glucose and has been a huge help. when i mess up a bit the fatigue, blurry vision and orthostatics are right on que. Then we did treat for SIBO not to long ago all i can say is i have a ton more energy and gained more weight (sigh) not walking like the hunchback of notre dame. The last change my GI doc has me doing is not drinking milk and is noticeable. i don't feel like i need to explode when bending down or putting my socks on and see an improvement in bloating. after my scoping the Doc will be discussing food with me. Oh and my high doses of D3 and adding B12 i swear helps as well. my hip pain that i have dealt with for a couple of years cleared up. sure there is more but the this is the big ticket items for me.
